Plot Synopsis

Based on the award-winning short HAIR LOVE, YOUNG LOVE is a half-hour animated series that follows a tight-knit African American family striving towards their dreams. HAIR LOVE centers around the relationship between an African-American father, his daughter Zuri, and the most daunting task a father could ever come across -- doing his daughter's hair for the first time. Now, YOUNG LOVE takes an honest look into the world of the Young family -- including millennial parents Stephen and Angela, their daughter Zuri and her pet cat Rocky -- as they juggle their careers, marriage, parenthood, social issues, and multi-generational dynamics all while striving to make a better life for themselves. The series opens with a cancer-free Angela returning to work, Stephen attempting to impress rapper Lil Ankh, and a disappointed Zuri attending a school fundraiser alone. Four episodes of YOUNG LOVE dropped on Thursday, September 21, 2023 on Max. Four more installments debuted each Thursday for the next two weeks: September 28 and October 5.

On Thursday, October 5, 2023, Max released the final four episodes of YOUNG LOVE's first season. In the season ender, "Love Love," when Zuri expresses insecurity about her parents' relationship, Angela and Stephen finally begin to consider tying the knot. But when overeager family and friends get involved in planning the big day, long-held fears rise to the surface.
