Plot Synopsis

The host of YARD CRASHERS waits at DIY stores, looking for weekend warriors who could definitely use some extra help with their outdoor projects. Once he finds his target, he and his team follow the surprised shoppers home and completely transform their yards. Season 9 of YARD CRASHERS premiered on Monday, April 1, 2013 at 10pm ET on DIY Network, with Matt Blashaw transforming a backyard with nuisance trees into a Tuscan-style getaway, including a redwood-wrapped hot tub, a brush-finished concrete patio and a wood pergola -- all surrounded by a new fence covered with Cabernet grapes. Immediately following an marathon (6-10pm ET/PT) of encore episodes from the previous season, YARD CRASHERS returned for its eleventh season on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT, as DIY Network aired back-to-back new episodes. In the Season 11 premiere, Matt heads to Blog Cabin North Carolina to help transform the massive waterfront property into a cozy entertaining area. Then, in the night's second new episode, Matt helps homeowners realize their backyard dreams for a private, meditative oasis with a sleek wooden shade structure, a contemporary stone fireplace, and tile flooring that mimics hardwood. Partway through Season 11, Chris Lambton temporarily took over hosting duties, because Blashaw was filming a new series, VACATION HOUSE FOR FREE, which required him to be on location for extended periods of time. YARD CRASHERS returned for its fourteenth season on Monday, July 6, 2015 from 10-11pm ET/PT, as DIY Network premiered back-to-back new episodes, immediately following an all-day marathon (11am-10pm) of encore episodes. In the season opener (10pm), "Mountain Retreat," Chris builds around a redwood when making a mountain retreat behind a brand new house. Season 15 of YARD CRASHERS premiered on Monday, April 4, 2016 from 10-11pm ET/PT, as DIY Network debuted back-to-back new episodes immediately following a six-hour marathon (4-10pm) of encore episodes. In the season opener (10pm), "Shady BBQ Retreat," Toby is finally ready to rid his yard of the junk and his wife Malea is thrilled. The yard has been neglected for 15 years and with a tiny house, this family of 4 can really use the space for cooking, dining and entertaining. Chris rises to the challenge by removing everything and scraping it down to dirt. He begins building it up with a huge colored concrete patio, then adds a large shade pergola and outdoor bar with built in barbecue. He includes wood slatted panels and a large fence for privacy, a custom made wood and metal kayak storage rack and a unique boulder fire feature. He finishes off with lush landscaping, sod and a pig spit for the ultimate roaster's retreat. Then, in the night's second new episode (10:30pm), "Fireman's Party Bar," Chris and his crew transform this boring backyard into a beautiful party station, which includes a metal pipe fire feature, a repurposed keg water feature and two redwood decks. A massive reclaimed bar with a granite countertop and a concrete patio with decorative rock inlay, lattice screens for both privacy and greenscaping, crushed rock pathways and patios, all surrounded by colorful plantings. DIY Network premiered the sixteenth season of YARD CRASHERS on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 10-11pm ET/PT, immediately following a three-hour marathon (7-10pm) of encore episodes. In the season opener (10pm), "Contemporary Cedar Design," Chris and the crew crash John and Kyle's backyard, a dysfunctional space with a tiny pink patio and no entertaining area. Chris transforms the yard into a private party pad complete with a cedar slat pergola, custom dining table and a matching bar. Then, in the night's second new episode (10:30pm), "Rustic Farm Backyard," this backyard has gone to the chickens and these homeowners desperately want to co-exist with their little critters. Chris delivers with a design that includes an oversized chicken coop, water wheel, a 10-foot farm table and a rustic grill island.

On Saturday, April 8, 2017 from 10-11am ET/PT, DIY Network premiered the seventeenth season of YARD CRASHERS, showing back-to-back new episodes. In the season opener (10am), "Mediterranean Oasis," Allen and Lily's uninviting yard is haggard and ignored, so Matt comes to their rescue with a Mediterranean oasis design. They want a place to hang out with friends and family, so Matt gives them a large deck complete with a barbecue island and a reclaimed dining table. He also adds an amazing stone water and fire feature as the center point, then builds a paver patio adjacent to it as well as a custom day bed with a pergola. Then, in the morning's second new episode (10:30pm), "Rock Pond Living Space," a dirt pile of a backyard with an old shed and dying plants is transformed into an entertainer's dream. An unused space quickly becomes everyone's hangout when a cascading rock pond takes center stage. Also featured is a huge paver patio, a one-of-a-kind farmhouse dining table, a reclaimed wood BBQ cooking station, furniture and games.
