Plot Synopsis

WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT HOUSE? is a one-hour docuseries that follows home inspection pro Joe Mazza and his go-to designer Noel Gatts, as they help clients uncover and repair any hidden issues in their homes before they take on their dream renovation. From leaky pipes and cracked foundations to broken boilers and unsafe fireplaces, Joe -- a licensed home inspector with more than 20 years of construction experience -- figures out what needs to be fixed ASAP. Once the property is in tip-top shape, Noel steps in to make it beautiful. She finds creative ways to maximize each family's budget, giving them functional and stylish spaces. WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT HOUSE? premiered with back-to-back episodes on Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 10am-Noon ET/PT on HGTV:

"Water Woes" (10am): Joe and Noel will meet homeowners Jessie and Rex who have encountered several costly problems when attempting a much-needed renovation. Joe will immediately spot the cause of the property's ongoing water damage, advising to regrade the yard to prevent future flooding. Noel will see the potential in the home's exterior, leaning into its Cape Cod style and suggesting the addition of an entryway and portico with a new stone walkway. She also will tackle the cramped kitchen and living room so the family has space to gather, either for meals or around the piano. In the meantime, Joe will continue his search for structural red flags, uncovering a cracked foundation and leaky plumbing, both of which will take a bite out of the budget.

"leepy Hollow Home of Hazards" (11am): Expectant parents need to address safety concerns of their 100-year-old ancestral home before the baby arrives. Joe Mazza uncovers a number of serious structural issues while designer Noel Gatts comes up with a design that makes room for new traditions.
