Plot Synopsis

WHAT IS THAT slowly unveils a series of factoids about a single object, while showing related video and images in the background, challenging viewers to identify the object before time runs out and the answer is revealed. After showing the right answer, the series' narrator then briefly gives more background information about the object, including fun facts and historical significance. Each half-hour episode includes five stand-alone segments that use specialty cameras and innovative filming techniques to background images. For instance, "7. Covered in ovaries," "6. White before red," "5. 240 different bugs call it home," 4. Darryl," "3. Often jammed up," "2. "Found in patches," and "1. Unscramble: Starry Brew" all describe a strawberry. In another case, this series reveals these seven hints about the digestive system: "7. One of the harshest environments on Earth," "6. Home to thousands of species," "5. Can have butterflies," "4. Often full of it," "3. Hydrochloric acid on walls," "2. Great place for a breakdown" and "1. Unscramble: stymied vestiges." Science Channel aired back-to-back episodes on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 10pm ET, but had no additional episodes scheduled at that time.
