Plot Synopsis

Using a combination of interviews with eyewitnesses, CGI, location filming, experiments (aimed at proving or disproving theories), and expert testimony from senior scientists, WEIRD EARTH is a one-hour docuseries that reveals weather phenomena that can't be explained. From sinister lightning shooting up from the earth to logic-defying horizontal tornadoes, this is weather that is spectacular and frightening, while defying rational explanation. Each 60-minute episode features four weird weather events that the experts can't explain. The series opener, "Breathing Forests and Fizzing Fireballs," features a huge fizzing fireball crashing through a farmer's field; a forest that seems to be breathing; and a mysterious horizontal cloud puzzles Japanese airplane passengers.

The sophomore season of WEIRD EARTH premiered on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at 8pm ET/PT on Weather Channel. The season opener, "Bubbling Lakes and Crooked Forests," features a bizarre eruption of bubbles spotted on a giant lake; experts trying to explain a forest of crooked trees; and geometric shapes beneath the ocean that could signal an animal invasion.

Season 3 of WEIRD EARTH debuted on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 9pm ET/PT on Weather Channel. In the season opener, "Ice Volcano and Dancing Lake," a giant ice stack on a remote lake spouts a strange vapor, dazzling jeweled objects litter a dank cave floor and a man's shout causes a lake to bizarrely react with thousands of ripples.
