Plot Synopsis

Based on Ari Shaffir's long-running live show, THIS IS NOT HAPPENING features the host -- Shaffir for the first three seasons and Roy Wood Jr. for Season 4 -- and his comedian friends telling hilarious and true stories in front of a live audience at LA's most distinguished gentlemen's club, Cheetahs in Hollywood. Throughout the first season, comedians including Rob Corddry, D.L. Hughley, Keegan-Michael Key, Marc Maron, Steve Rannazzisi, Joe Rogan and Paul Scheer tell their favorite, most embarrassing, or just plain funniest true-life tales around topics including Drugs, Emergencies, Wonder Years, Battles, Sexy Time, and Travel. Originally developed by CC:Studios and released online as a web series, THIS IS NOT HAPPENING had its television premiere late Thursday, January 22, 2015 (early Friday, January 23, 2015) at 12:30am ET/PT on Comedy Central. Season 2 of THIS IS NOT HAPPENING premiered at 12:30am ET/PT late night Tuesday, February 23, 2016 (early morning Wednesday, February 24) on Comedy Central. In the season opener, "Pscyedelia," Henry Rollins and Dan Cummins join host Ari Shaffir to share stories about their psychedelic experiences. From the Cheetahs in Hollywood, the rest of the eight-episode second season includes comedians like Jim Breuer, Nicole Byer, Felipe Esparza, Moshe Kasher, Kyle Kinane, Artie Lange, Al Madrigal, Randall Park, Nick Swardson and Ron White, who all tell their favorite, most embarrassing, or just plain funniest true-life tales. Each episode features a custom opening that puts Shaffir into a ludicrous situation, dreamed (nightmared) up by director Jeff Tomsic. Comedy Central premiered the third season of THIS IS NOT HAPPENING at Midnight ET/PT late night on Thursday, October 13, 2016. Hosted again by Ari Shaffir, Season 3 was filmed at Cheetahs in Hollywood from Sunday, May 22 through Wednesday, May 25, 2016, featuring stories from Sofiya Alexandra, Gastor Almonte, Louie Anderson, Maria Bamford, Greg Behrendt, Lavell Crawford, Joey Diaz, Greg Fitzsimmons, Sean Flannery, Al Jackson, Pete Johansson, Andy Kindler, Bert Kreischer, Joe List, Julian McCullough, Bonnie McFarlane, Big Jay Oakerson, Russell Peters, Brian Regan, Dave Ross, Rory Scovel, Scruncho, Ryan Sickler, Steve Simeone, Doug Stanhope, Dan St. Germain, Nick Thune, Liza Treyger, Sal Vulcano, Andrew WK and more.
