Plot Synopsis

Each year since 1995, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) has scheduled 31 consecutive days of its programming to showcase and honor Oscar-nominated and winning films and performances. From 1995 through 2003, TCM aired 31 DAYS OF OSCAR during March as a monthlong tribute to the ACADEMY AWARDS, because the Oscars were held toward the end of the month. In 2004, the ACADEMY AWARDS were moved to late February, so TCM moved 31 DAYS OF OSCAR one month earlier, starting on February 1, continuing for a full 31 days into the beginning of March. Since 2004, the ACADEMY AWARDS have been held late February or early March, and TCM has started 31 DAYS OF OSCAR on February 1 each year.

To celebrate the 20th installment of 31 DAYS OF OSCAR, TCM kicked off the month on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 8pm ET/PT with the world premiere of AND THE OSCAR GOES TO..., a two-hour documentary that traces the history of the ACADEMY AWARDS and Oscar-winning films through the eyes of Hollywood insiders, while also presenting never-before-seen footage and classic moments. During the 2014 event, daytime programming focused on specific categories, with winners and nominees from multiple years. Meanwhile, each night's primetime lineup from February 1 through March 3 showcased all the movies nominated in a particular category in a given year:
