Plot Synopsis

In each half-hour episode of THE THERAPIST, Dr. Siri Sat Sam Singh sits down to speak with a musician from the world of rap, rock, pop, dancehall and EDM to take a deeper look into their psyches, their pasts and their presents to discover what makes them tick. He leads them through discussions, inviting them to look at how they've faced some of the most formative, troubling or difficult experiences from throughout their lives. Aside from a cameraman - there was absolutely no one else in the room throughout each shoot. There were no "re-takes," no "re-shoots," no "producing." Each artist was fully immersed in a full-length therapy session which enabled Dr. Siri to truly engage them and break down the emotional barriers and walls we all carry. In the series opener, rapper Freddie Gibbs discusses being falsely accused and incarcerated for rape, and how he's managed to recover from the troubling experience. Other patients for the first season include: Hip Hop Artists Waka Flocka Flame, Young M.A., Dej Loaf D.R.A.M., O.T. Genasis and rapper-turned-actor Joey Bada$$ ("Mr. Robot") as well as rock musicians Corey Taylor (of Slipknot), Nathan Williams (of Waaves) and Damien Abraham (of F*cked Up). After a one-month break, THE THERAPIST returned with new episodes on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 10:30pm ET/PT on Viceland, with a 30-minute program featuring Chicago rapper Chief Keef.
On Tuesday, October 9, 2017 at 10:30pm ET/PT, Viceland premiered the season finale of THE THERAPIST. In the season ender, rapper Tee Grizzley discusses his time spent in jail and how it affected his rise to fame.
