Plot Synopsis

TEXAS METAL is a one-hour reality series that follows Bill Carlton and his crew at Houston's Ekstensive Metal Works, as they build one-off cars and trucks for people from around the country. When the team creates these custom vehicles, they use everything from rusted out wrecks to top-of-the-line vehicles including a 1955 Chevy Truck, a 2014 Porsche 911, a 1967 Lincoln Continental, a 1966 Chevrolet C10 and more. Bill is a third-generation welder. Forty years ago, his father purchased the property where Extensive Metals Works now sits, and it's where Bill grew up building cars including his first out of a small shop on the property. Now in that same spot in north Houston, Ekstensive cranks out wild, top-notch customizations that are the envy of car lovers everywhere. The series premiere, "Low Down & Dually," features a brand new 2017 Ford 350 with less than 600 miles and a 2014 Porsche 911 looking for extreme customizations. In true Ekstensive fashion, Bill and his team replace original factory parts in each rides with custom fabricated bodywork and intricately welded structural for their very own custom touch. This season, Bill and his crew also customize a 1961 Cadillac DeVille, a 2006 Chevy Kodiak, a 1963 Grumman Delivery Truck and more amazing builds.

The sophomore season of TEXAS METAL premiered on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on Velocity. In the season opener, "Denali Drop," a client wants Bill to set the bar for custom SUVs with a 2018 Yukon Denali. The guys get busy with handmade chassis, body mods, interior and twin turbos. Ekstensive goes full gangster with a 1948 Mercury, remaking this legendary car from the inside out.

Season 3 of TEXAS METAL premiered on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 10pm ET/PT on MotorTrend Network. This season, Bill and his uber-talented team push themselves to go even bigger with builds they've never done before. In the season opener, "Cab Over Custom," Bill and the Ekstensive team throw everything they've got into an old customer's 1950 Ford F5 COE. It's not often the team gets the chance to outdo themselves but a radical redesign consisting of a custom handmade bed, headache rack, running boards, metalwork, interior, paint, and new wheels, puts that plan into action. In the second half of the two-parter, which debuts the following week, Bill and team go even bigger with one of the biggest builds to date when the client asks for a last minute Cummins diesel engine swap on the year-long 1950 Ford F5 COE project. In future episodes, the guys fit a 12 Valve Cummins in a 1937 International truck, lift a huge 2019 Silverado 5500 Medium Duty 14 inches, make a custom chassis for a 1969 Corvette, complete a salvage renovation to NFL Hall of Famer and Texas legend Earl Campbell's 1949 Cadillac, and tackle maybe their biggest build yet, a 1996 International dump truck. This season the TEXAS METAL team will tackle a diverse array of automotive projects including: 1969 Corvette; 2001 Ford F-350; 2017 F350; 1965 Ford Falcon Van; 1966 Cobra; 1972 El Camino; 2020 Freightliner Tow Truck; 1970 Chevy C10; 1934 Buick; 1937 International D1; 2017 Mercedes Van; and 2020 Chevy Kodiak.

Season 5 of TEXAS METAL made its linear television debut on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on MotorTrend Network. In the season opener, "Jeep Splits and Foreign Whips," Bill and the gang split a nearly perfect 1960 Willys Jeep into four pieces to make it longer, wider and meaner.

The seventh season of TEXAS METAL debuted on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 9pm ET/PT on MotorTrend Network. In the season opener, "Ram Tow, '49 Ford Show," Bill balances custom and function when he tackles a working 2023 Ram that needs to deliver on the road and stand out at the tow show. A new client plans a surprise customization on her dad's '49 Ford F-1, which is more rust than wrecker.
