Plot Synopsis

Set in the present day with flashbacks to the 1990s, SYDNEY TO THE MAX is a half-hour sitcom that centers on outgoing middle schooler Sydney Reynolds who lives with her protective yet doting single dad Max in the house where he grew up, along with her trendy and progressive grandmother Judy. As Sydney's preteen pursuits begin to expand with unexpected and funny twists, Max tries to get a better sense of the guidance, perspective and support she needs. Grandma, armed with parental wisdom and wisecracks, has a razor-sharp memory that proves Max's own teenage antics parallel Sydney's. Whether it is experimenting with a new hairstyle that becomes a #HairFail, deciding to stand up for gender equality or learning how to deal with unexpected body hair, flashback scenes to a young Max and his best friend Leo parallel the challenging and often comical predicaments Sydney and her vivacious friend Olive find themselves in. While their adolescence is separated by three decades as well as generation-defining tech and fashion (think VHS camcorders and bleached skater hair) in every episode, Sydney and Max grow closer as they learn they have more in common than they initially thought.
The second season of SYDNEY TO THE MAX premiered on Monday, March 23, 2020 at 8pm ET/PT on Disney Channel. Season 2 continues to follow outgoing middle schooler Sydney Reynolds who lives with her single dad Max in the house he grew up in, along with her free-spirited grandmother Judy. As Sydney navigates becoming a teenager alongside her bestie Olive, Max's flashbacks of his childhood with his best friend Leo parallel her adventures, illustrating how life's "growing pains" evolve but don't really change. During premiere week, Disney debuted new episodes of SYDNEY TO THE MAX at 8pm nightly through Friday, March 27:

"Father Of The Bribe" (Monday, March 23 @ 8pm): Sydney is excited when she makes the school's first girls fencing team. But when she learns her dad helped Coach Carlock, Sydney fears she may have gotten on the team for the wrong reason. Eric Allan Kramer guest stars as Coach Carlock.

"Sister Pact" (Tuesday, March 24 @ 8pm): Sydney and her friends make a pact to go to the dance together without dates. She finds herself in a pickle when Ned asks her to the dance. Max recalls his first school dance when Leo and his Mom gave him tips on how to ask a girl to be his date.

"Night Not at the Museum" (Wednesday, March 25 @ 8pm): Max is fed up with Sydney missing her curfew multiple times and grounds her right before the one-night-only Pop-Up cake museum that all of her friends are attending.

"Going the Green Mile" (Thursday, March 26 @ 8pm): In an effort to save the planet, Sydney and her friends stage a student protest to convince the cafeteria to go green. Back in the '90s, Max and Leo fight to keep their school from getting rid of the junk food in the vending machines.

"Girls II Women" (Friday, March 27 @ 8pm): Sydney gets her first period, and when she has an accident at school, she's too upset and wants to sit out her bass solo at the school concert.
