Plot Synopsis

SURVIVING JACK is a scripted comedy set in Southern California in the 1990s that centers on teenager Frankie, and his father, Jack, who becomes a full-time parent for the first time when his wife, Joanne, goes back to law school. Jack is ex-military, and an oncologist, who talks to everyone like they're 75 years old and dying of cancer. Rounding out the family is their teen daughter Rachel. Plus, Frankie hangs out with George, his overly confident best friend, and Mikey, a tough kid from a broken home. From executive producer and Emmy Award nominee Bill Lawrence, SURVIVING JACK is based on best-selling author Justin Halpern's autobiographical book, "I Suck at Girls." SURVIVING JACK premiered Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 9:30pm ET/PT on Fox, immediately following the AMERICAN IDOL XIII results show.
