Plot Synopsis

Written in a fit of youthful intoxication by legendary author turned director Eric Jonrosh, THE SPOILS BEFORE DYING is a pulp-noir murder mystery set in the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles' jazz scene. It follows Rock Banyon as he becomes the prime suspect in the double murder of his occasional lover Fresno Foxglove who is found dead with another man. Panicked, Rock splits for Mexico where he reunites with his one-time big band singer, Delores DeWinter. With 72 hours to clear his name or fry in the electric chair, Rock and Delores embark on a dangerous quest for the truth that takes them into an abyss of sex, drugs, betrayal, and jazz. While his world crumbles, Rock's hard-charging manager Alistair St. Barnaby pressures him to record a mainstream jazz album. IFC aired this six-part miniseries on three consecutive nights -- Wednesday, July 8 through Friday, July 10 -- showing two new half-hour episodes each night from 9-10pm ET/PT. This series is executive produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Matt Piedmont, Andrew Steele and Nate Young.

On Friday, July 10, 2015 from 9-10pm ET/PT, IFC premiered the finale of THE SPOILS BEFORE DYING. In the night's first new episode (9pm), "The Trip Trap," Rock learns new details about the circumstances surrounding the murders of Fresno Foxglove and a scientist, Wilbur Stygamian, from a secret source. Then, in the finale (9:30pm), "The Biscuit Eaters," Rock is pursued by the FBI and uncovers the true murderer.
