Plot Synopsis

In the aftermath of her mother's death, Sare discovers that her father was not her actual father, he was in fact, an Irish busker her mother met while backpacking some 30 years ago. She decides to pack her bags and fly across the pond to Ireland to track down her biological father to get the answers her childhood-self wished for -- only to discover she has a half-sister. In Dublin, Ireland, Suze's life is unraveling -- she's lost her partner, her flat, her job...and not to mention -- her dignity. On her 37th birthday, her life takes an unexpected turn, when her Canadian half-sister shows up. Sare convinces a reluctant Suze to embark on a road trip across Ireland to find their alcoholic father. Confined by the four walls of a crumbling ice cream van, it's a baptism of fire for these sisters. With the wounds of their childhood re-opened, the two women are forced into an unshakable bond through their shared experience. Their lives take irreversible turns as they let go of the past and walk toward the people they want to become. Created by series stars Sarah Goldberg and Susan Stanley, SISTERS made its U.S. debut on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 when SundanceNow released all six episodes in the morning. Later that night at 11pm ET/PT, IFC aired the U.S. linear TV debut of the series, showing the first episode.
