Plot Synopsis

A Haredi family living in an ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Jerusalem reckons with love, loss and the doldrums of daily life. The story opens with Akiva Shtisel mourning his late mother alongside his father Shulem , while starting a new job where he meets a woman named Elisheva, who diverts his attention. While Akiva looks to get better acquainted with Elisheva, his sister Giti tries to figure out the whereabouts of her husband, Lippe.

In the 12-episode second season, Shulem's brother Nuchem pays the family a timely visit with his daughter Libbi, Akiva pursues a love interest, and Giti faces more parenting dilemmas. While Libbi encourages Akiva to seek artistic inspiration, Giti and Lippe find themselves in a debate over a baby name.
