Plot Synopsis

This one-hour drama series centers on the young and talented doctor Hank Lawson who loses everything fighting for the life of a patient. After one fateful and principled decision in the ER, he is fired by his hospital and blacklisted by the New York medical establishment. Hank's younger brother, Evan, convinces him to head out to the Hamptons for the summer. After they crash a party, Hank jumps into action when a guest requires medical attention that only he is able to diagnose. Word of the "hot new doctor in town" spreads like wildfire and his career is revived as a "small-town" doctor who makes house calls -- serving both the privileged community and the town's working-class residents. Hank finds a new outlet for his true passion -- helping those in need- when he teams with local hospital administrator Jill to open a free clinic. In Season 4, Dr. Hank embarks on a fresh start with his medical practice and separates from his brother, Evan, who also starts his own venture. As Divya attempts to reconcile the brothers, HankMed teams up once more in the face of a Hamptons' emergency. ROYAL PAINS returned for its fifth season on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT on USA, picking up six months after Evan and Paige's wedding during the special "Off-Season Greetings," which happened months after the explosion at Boris' mansion in the Season 4 finale. Season 5 picked up six months after the wedding with Hank finally returning to work, as he continued to recover from the blast. ROYAL PAINS returned for its sixth season on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on USA Network. In Season 6, Hank returns from his world travels with Boris to find that his HankMed family has moved on without him -- and has welcomed a new addition -- during his nine-month absence. No longer in the comfortable dynamics he left behind, Hank forges ahead to figure out how he fits into this new normal, and Evan hatches a plan to make Hank stay in town after a saxophone player falls ill. Meanwhile, Divya experiences the joys of motherhood and a mysterious party guest brings surprising news for the Lawson family. On Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT, USA Network aired the Season 6 finale of ROYAL PAINS. In the season ender, "Ganging Up," Hank and Evan search for Emma after her unexpected disappearance. Evan struggles to understand why Hank refuses to join Boris' latest endeavor. Meanwhile, as Paige and Evan finally are ready to move on from therapy, they discover some surprising news about Bob. And while Jeremiah tries to accept the changes Viviana is making in her life, he realizes he needs to make some changes of his own. Elsewhere, Divya faces a new hurdle in her custody battle, while Boris worries his disease may be catching up with him. ROYAL PAINS returned for its eight-episode seventh season on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT on the USA Network. Season 7 goes back to the sun-drenched Hamptons with Hank setting his sights on obtaining what's been missing in his life, while Evan juggles his promotion with his desire to start a family with Paige, and Divya fights to keep her family together. In the season opener, "Rebound," Hank helps a TV host who is off her game and takes a big step in his personal life. When Evan and Paige buy a new home and get some unexpected news, they learn the next chapter in their lives will be filled with ups and downs. Divya gets more than she bargained for when she saves the life of a young skateboarder on the street, and Boris offers Evan an exciting career opportunity. The eighth and final season of ROYAL PAINS premiered on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT on USA Network. In its eight-episode final season, the series celebrates its 100th episode milestone, and also includes a visit to Hong Kong and a unique musical episode featuring several new and returning guest stars. Season 8 explores pivotal life decisions for all of the staff at HankMed, and with everyone's focus pulled in various directions, the future of the business is at stake. After years in the Hamptons as everyone's favorite concierge doctor, Hank must decide if his professional fulfillment equals his personal fulfillment. Evan and Paige endure challenging marital decisions and must examine what family really means to them. Meanwhile, a number of life events complicate Divya's career aspirations. Jeremiah must choose between research and patient care; and just as Eddie has earned the trust of Hank and Evan, they discover he still has secrets that can rock their world. All the while, Boris makes a series of life-altering decisions that could change the group dynamic forever. A special musical episode will feature guest stars Christine Ebersole and Cloris Leachman. When Ms. Newberg's life-long best friend, Annette, visits the Hamptons, she begins seeing every situation around her as a musical number.
