Plot Synopsis

Working in her hometown of Detroit, Nicole Curtis is preserving the Ransom Gillis House, an historic home in Detroit's Brush Park neighborhood, and returning it to its original glory. It's an enormous project with a tremendous amount of history, but Nicole is up to the challenge to get it all completed on a tight deadline. Built in 1876 and abandoned since the 1960s, this turreted mansion is in need of some serious rehab. When REHAB ADDICT: DETROIT opens, construction is underway, and all of the trades work together to reinforce the strength of the home while Nicole attempts to salvage as many original elements as possible. After the walls are up and plumbing is roughed in, the house is ready for the next phase of its renovation. Nicole tackles the kitchen and dining room in this iconic 1800s mansion. With new hardwood floors, grand cabinets and stained glass, the modern kitchen and dining room designs remain reminiscent of the home's historic feel. However, the renovation has its fair share of challenges. Once the kitchen and dining room have been renovated, it's time for Nicole to revamp the living room and foyer. The renovation takes an unexpected turn when Nicole finds out what the original staircase would have looked like. She is going to spare no expense in order to salvage as many of the original elements as she possibly can. Once the entire first floor completed, Nicole moves upstairs to tackle the master bedroom suite. She plans to bring the master bedroom back to its original splendor with beautiful stained glass and antique trim that was salvaged from the house. Since so little of the turret's original framework remains, it takes Nicole and her entire army of trades to rebuild it. A Brush Park neighbor and fellow restoration enthusiast has a surprise that will help Nicole with her mission. With a new frame, roof and windows, this defining architectural element of the house comes back to life. Then, Nicole restores the upstairs mantle bedroom and the connected Jack-and-Jill bathroom, and she does her best to preserve the original details left in the space, such as the original slate fireplace.
