Plot Synopsis

Each one-hour of this reality series follows a two differents pair of strangers who are dropped in a life raft into the ocean, miles away from the closest land. They are left stranded at sea for six days. Armed with their guts and driven by adrenaline, their goal is to survive in the middle of the ocean with limited supplies and get back to the mainland before their time is up. They must endure the elements to survive adrift in a life raft until they reach land, dealing with hungry sharks, cranky raft mates and rolling seas. In the series opener, two pairs of strangers are dropped in the Bermuda Triangle with no food or water, hundreds of miles apart. They must survive with meager provisions for a week, adrift in life rafts, until they reach land -- or tap out by calling the mother ship using an emergency radio. On one raft are Rich, a lobster fisherman from Massachusetts, and Payge, an adventure athlete and travel writer who has some experience with survival skills. They'll take advantage of their backgrounds to stay alive, but aggressive sharks and a lack of food and water might make this journey too much to bear. Far away on the other raft, scoutmaster Chad and cruise ship singer Stephanie get acquainted. Chad, an Iowa native, has never been near the ocean before. Stephanie often leads emergency evacuation drills on the cruise ships where she works, but even she has never been inside a life raft. When they discover that their water pump is missing a crucial valve after two days at sea, this pair might have to call it quits -- or face deadly dehydration.

On Sunday, May 20, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT, Nat Geo premiered the season finale of THE RAFT. In the season ender, "Night Terror," two pairs of strangers are dropped in the Bermuda Triangle with one goal: survive on a life raft with no food or water. On one raft, champion catfish noodler Don Brewer meets his partner, flight attendant Rebecca Ewing. Rebecca's worst fear is to go down with her plane and end up stranded on a life raft. Now, she's living out that nightmare. On raft two, boat captain Justin Sanford and shark wrangler Elliot Sudal each bring years of experience on the water. Early on, the pair finds success when they snag a small trigger fish, but as expert fishermen, they believe they can do better, so they throw the fish back. Days later, they still don't have anything on the line -- they're starving, and they're thinking that they may have made a fatal mistake.
