Plot Synopsis

"Come on down!" and watch the show that TV Guide proclaimed as the greatest game show of all time. Bob Barker hosted this series during its first 35 years (until 2007) when he retired at the age of 83. While searching for his replacement, CBS considered George Hamilton, John O'Hurley, Mark Steins and Todd Newton before selecting Drew Carey. THE PRICE IS RIGHT rewards contestants with prizes and cash based on how well they estimate prices of merchandise and grocery products. Each hour-long episode has three rounds of pricing games followed by the first Showcase Showdown (with The Big Wheel), three more rounds of pricing games, a second Showcase Showdown and then the Showcase. In each round of pricing games, there are two different games. The first game -- Contestants' Row -- is the same in every round with four contestants from the studio audience bidding on merchandise; the person who bids closest to the actual retail price of the product without going over wins that product and advances to play the second game of the round. The second game is different in each round, and it is selected from approximately 70 different games (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Price_Is_Right_pricing_games) with Plinko and Hole-in-One being two of the more famous pricing games. On Monday, September 22, 2014 (11am-Noon ET; 10-11am PT) on CBS, THE PRICE IS RIGHT returned for its 43rd season. In the series premiere, THE PRICE IS RIGHT unveils "Time Is Money," a modern spin on the classic grocery game last seen on the show in 2003, as contestants are challenged to quickly arrange five grocery items into one of three price ranges ($0-$2.99, $3.00-5.99, $6.00 and up) for a big money cash prize of up to $20,000. THE PRICE IS RIGHT returned for its 44th season on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 11am ET/10am PT on CBS. TPIR celebrates Season 44 -- and five decades -- by kicking off the new season with a decade-themed week, featuring a different decade each day: the '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s and '10s. Each episode focuses on a single decade and features decade-appropriate wardrobe, clips from that period and the return of the most famous mic in television history. On Friday, September 25, TPIR highlights current times and introduces the a new pricing game, Vend-O-Price. Season 45 of THE PRICE IS RIGHT premiered on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 11am ET/10am PT, as Drew Carey began his 10th season as host. Throughout its premiere week, THE PRICE IS RIGHT celebrates 45 seasons by highlighting memorable moments from its rich history. Each day's episode features clips of classic scenes, unforgettable games, record wins and the biggest bloopers. On Friday, September 23, THE PRICE IS RIGHT debuts its new game, "Hot Seat," in which a contestant sitting in the "hot seat" is shown a series of fake prices for five small items and must guess whether the actual prices are higher or lower in an effort to win up to $20,000.

The 46th season of THE PRICE IS RIGHT premiered on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11am ET/10am PT on CBS. This season, in honor of Drew Carey's decade on the show, if a contestant spins $1 on the wheel, there will be a $10,000 bonus instead of the usual $1,000 all week long. And on the season premiere, players win a $100,000 bonus if they spin another $1 on the wheel. In addition, any contestant who wins their pricing game receives a $10,000 cash bonus. Finally, the show will debut a brand new game, "Gridlock," inspired by the traffic in Los Angeles, in which contestants playing for a car must "navigate" their mini game vehicle out of a lane of traffic and into an empty lane by correctly giving the price of the vehicle. The celebration of Drew's milestone season continues all week, with celebrity friends of THE PRICE IS RIGHT sharing special congratulatory messages, including Stephen Colbert, James Corden, the hosts of THE TALK, Pauley Perrette, Wayne Brady, Jonathan Mangum, Tim Allen and more. On Thursday, Sept. 21, contestants will play games that premiered during Drew Carey's tenure on the show, including the one he created, "Rat Race." Plus, the models will present a special Drew Carey-themed tribute showcase. The festivities conclude on Friday, Sept. 22 with a showcase showdown that will go down in the show's history when THE PRICE IS RIGHT gives away the most money ever spun on the wheel.
