Plot Synopsis

PLANET EGYPT takes a comprehensive look at the history of Ancient Egypt -- from Dynasty Zero to the end of the New Kingdom. The four one-hour episodes are: "Birth of an Empire," which starts with Egypt being founded after the big battle that united Upper and Lower Egypt, showing how both war and peaceful collaboration laid the foundations for Egyptian success; "Pharaohs at War," showing how Egypt maintained its independence for 3000 years, by telling the story of Thutmosis III, who conquered more land than any other pharaoh but had no interest in establishing an expanding empire abroad because of his pursuit of peace and stability at home; "Temples of Power," highlighting how religion playes a major role Egypt's success, by taking a look at Akhenaten's ill-fated revolution, which shows how the cult was the backbone of the country's civilization through peace and stability; and "Quest for Eternity," which focuses on the Egypt's belief in the afterlife and how that could be part of the country's long-term success, providing focus its population for more than 3000 years. H2 aired the U.S. premiere of this series on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at 9pm with back-to-back 60-minute episodes.
