Plot Synopsis

Peg and Cat encounter problems that require them to use math and problem-solving skills, as they travel the world in space and time -- from farms to purple planets, from 16th-century Verona to New York's Radio City Music Hall, from a land of pirates to a prehistoric valley. Witty and chatty Peg is always organizing, ordering things, and writing equations on graph paper with her twig, as she fearlessly takes a left-brain approach to solving problems. Then, out of nowhere, she'll play the ukulele and break into song. Her sidekick, Cat, is impulsive, easily distracted, and clumsy. He may not actually know any math at all, but every time he trips or sneezes, it points Peg towards an answer. Together, they add up to a perfect team, cooperating to solve seemingly insurmountable problems, and when they get the answer wrong, Peg thinks through what happened and back tracks with Cat to fix the issue. Along the way, they're joined by: Ramone, a super cool kid, who always happens to be passing through doing something really amazing and helps with a key fact or tool or piece of advice; Richard, a sensitive young space alien, who has the coolest hi-tech toys; Viv and Connie, the neighbor ladies, who are always together, always bubbly, and always babbling at Peg about how she should wear more pink, smile more, and generally be more girly; and many characters like Pig, 100 Chickens, The Teens, and more. Every half-hour episode of PEG + CAT features two stories, each an eleven-minute adventure in which Peg and Cat find themselves thrust into an unexpected math word problem, where they learn about size correspondence, sorting, counting by tens, mapping, non-standard units of measurement, and ordinal numbers.
