Plot Synopsis

Each year the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the U.S. premier women's professional soccer league, holds its first-year player draft.

The 2024 NWSL Draft, presented by Ally, begins at 8pm ET/5pm PT on Friday, January 12, 2024 and is televised live on ION (for the the first two rounds from 8-10pm ET) and streamed on ION Plus (all rounds from 8pm to midnight ET). There are 56 picks in the draft with 14 selections in each of four rounds, with the draft being held at the Anaheim Convention Center during the United Soccer Coaches Convention. The clubs are Angel City FC, Bay FC, Boston, Chicago Red Stars, Houston Dash, Kansas City Current, NJ/NY Gotham FC, North Carolina Courage, Orlando Pride, Portland Thorns FC, Racing Louisville FC, San Diego Wave FC, Seattle Reign FC, Utah Royals FC, and Washington Spirit. The broadcast team includes Lisa Carlin, Lori Lindsey, Jordan Angeli, and Anna Witte. According to the NWSL, some of the top story lines for this year's draft are:

- As of Monday, Utah Royals FC has the first and fourth picks in the draft. Bay FC has No. 2, Chicago Red Stars No 3 and North Carolina Courage No. 5.

- Utah Royals FC, based in Sandy, and Bay FC, based in San Jose, are new expansion teams that will join the league this season.

- More than 200 players have registered for this year's draft, including top prospects Croix Bethune (Georgia), Maya Doms (Stanford) and Makenna Morris (Clemson). More information on this year's draftees can be found here.
