Plot Synopsis

Host Beth Stern and build designer Jared Walker Dostie transform one room to reflect some facet of mom's personality. Whether they are creating a dream test kitchen for a master chef or a studio space for an artist's works, Beth and Jared always surprise mom with the room she's always wanted. They complete makeovers for these moms: Leigh Ann, who wants the ultimate celebrity master suite is delighted with her new master closet; Stephanie, whose husband wants to surprise her for the 30th birthday with a Moroccan Lounge; Sommer, who falls in love with a new master bedroom reminiscent of her favorite vacation -- their honeymoon in Hawaii; Heather, who hasn't found much time to indulge in her passion for painting but now has a pop art studio to reestablish her love for art; Christine, who is surprised by her husband with a new kitchen and dining room that reflect her other love -- the beach; Butterfly, who may begin to write again after seeing her new beautiful room to write in, which was inspired by her love of bold colors and world travel; Hazel, who will make good use of her new luxe loft so she can enjoy her love of photography, crafting and city lofts; and many more women who will get their own space after their husbands contacted MOM CAVES to arrange for the surprise. In her own home, both of Beth's mom caves are dressing rooms where she chills out with friends and gets ready for big nights out, and they're off-limits to her shock jock husband, Howard. HGTV first aired MOM CAVES as a 30-minute special (pilot) on Saturday, September 30, 2011 at 9pm ET, with Matt Muenster as the designer. Because of Matt's filming schedule for BATH CRASHERS, he was unable to continue with MOM CAVES and was replaced by Jared Walker Dostie.
