Hosted by Teddy Wilson, MIGHTY TRAINS is a one-hour series that explores the world of rail travel, telling the stories of trains and their scenic locomotive routes through various parts of the world. Wilson follows the inner workings of these unique rail journeys with immersive and in-depth accounts from train drivers, load-masters, head chefs, track inspectors, rail traffic control officers, and passengers. MIGHTY TRAINS had its U.S. premiere on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT on Smithsonian Channel.

On Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT, Smithsonian Channel debuted the U.S. premiere of the second season of MIGHTY TRAINS. The season opener, "KiwiRail," follows the KiwiRail's scenic journeys through New Zealand may appear serene to passengers, but to the conductors and engineers who keep these tour trains running, it takes hard work and nerves of steel. Embark on two odysseys through the country's northern and southern islands, past treacherous fault lines, active volcanoes, and dizzying heights. Visit epic landscapes, including "Hobbiton", home to the LORD OF THE RINGS and HOBBIT movies, as well as the site of the most devastating rail disaster in New Zealand's history.

The fourth season of MIGHTY TRAINS had its U.S. debut on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at 8pm ET/PT on Smithsonian Channel. The season opener features Peru's Tren Turistico, which is one of the most extreme railway journeys in the world. The train travels through 69 tunnels, over 58 bridges, and along six zigzag switchbacks!
