Plot Synopsis

MADE BY DESTRUCTION is a half-hour series that explores how discarded products around the world are split apart, stripped down, melted, shredded and re-invented in ingenious and extraordinary ways. Each 30-minute episode chronicles the transformation of three objects -- from obsolete airplanes to empty bottles -- as they are destroyed and then rebuilt to create unexpected results. Featured objects include: photocopiers that are mined for their copper and recomposed into brass trumpets; potatoes that are shredded down to their starch and reformed into recycled egg cartons; milk jugs that are melted into plastic lumber and constructed into weatherproof park benches; fridges that get an extended live by giving a second chance to people in need, with the help of recycling visionaries and chemistry wizards working hand in hand; dead batteries that are being brought back to life to energize the world in a whole new way; a plastic bottle that is transformed into an ultra-modern chair; retired rubber tires that roll into flowerpots; a piece of steel bridge that is resurrected into a turntable; x-ray film that is mined and refined into gleaming pure silver coins; the last of the heart pine beams that are being reclaimed from ruins and crafted into speaker cabinets; carbon fiber bikes that hit the road, recycled as Formula Lite race cars; and many more items that are upcycled.
