Plot Synopsis

Homeowners are deciding whether to renovate or sell their houses, and they get some help from an interior designer, Hilary Farr, who transforms their current home into a space that better suits their needs, and a real-estate agent, David Visentin, who finds them a new dream home. At the end of each episode, the family decides whether they should stay or sell. The Oprah Winfrey Network aired the U.S. premiere of LOVE IT OR LIST IT on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 8pm ET with three back-to-back episodes. Just five months later, this series shifted to HGTV for its US broadcasts, where it has aired since then. HGTV presented the US premieres of Season 7 (Monday, June 3, 2013 9pm ET/PT); Season 8 (Monday, November 4, 2013 9pm ET/PT); Season 9 (Monday, February 17, 2014 9pm ET/PT); Season 10 (Monday, September 22, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT); Season 11 (Monday, January 5, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT). On Monday, September 21, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT, HGTV aired the U.S. premiere of the twelfth season of LOVE IT OR LIST IT, immediately following a seven-hour marathon (2-9pm ET/PT) of encore episodes. In the season opener, Mason and Shannon currently live in a 2,000-square foot house suited for themselves and their son Luke. With the recent adoption of their daughter Carmen, Mason feels it is time to find a larger home to suit their needs whereas Shannon loves the stability of their current space. With a beautiful and spacious new home, the homeowners must decide whether the new renovations help them fall back in love with their home or motivates them to move. Season 13 of LOVE IT OR LIST IT premiered on HGTV on Monday, January 2, 2017 at 9pm ET/PT. In the season opener, "Opportunity in the Attic," Emily and Ryan moved from out of state and were eager to purchase a home in an established neighborhood with a lot of young couples. After having two kids, however, Emily thinks the house is dated and wants more room for out-of-town guests. Will David find them a home to accommodate their guests or will Hilary make daily life immeasurably easier by reinventing the space within their home?

LOVE IT OR LIST IT, starring popular designer Hilary Farr and real estate expert David Visentin, returns on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on HGTV. The fresh eight episodes feature the pair as they help homeowners make a difficult decision: love their existing home after Hilary remodels their space or purchase a new house that David finds to better fit the needs of the family. "I always do my best to accommodate each owner's list of 'must haves,'' said Hilary. "I may need to get extra creative depending on my budget, but I know when I finish revamping their home, the owners will love it.' "I try to take homeowners outside their comfort zone to make the most of their budget and make them see what they could get for their money if they are brave enough to list it,' contended David.

In the premiere episode, Hilary and David will meet a young couple living in an outdated 1970s ranch home previously owned by her late grandmother. Taking on a dramatic redesign, Hilary will create an open floorplan -- featuring a cozy fireplace in the living room and a stunning kitchen with an oversized island perfect for entertaining. She'll also add a functional closet and a bright bathroom with a huge walk-in shower to transform the master bedroom. In the meantime, David will try to convince the couple to put the home on the market and buy a newer property that fulfills their lengthy wish list.
