Plot Synopsis

This spinoff of LIFE BELOW ZERO features all-new tough Alaskans who have tried contemporary life and rejected it in favor of a life of freedom in the brutal Alaskan wilderness. They speak to the growing dissatisfaction the current generation has with technology, which is ubiquitous in modern life. The brave crew follows these less experienced individuals as they transition from modern-day society to forge a new life for themselves in the vastness of Alaska's wild frontier. This next generation of Alaskans are playing by their own rules, rebelling against societal norms and learning how to survive in the harsh Arctic climate. LIFE BELOW ZERO: NEXT GENERATION premieres on a special night -- Monday, September 7, 2020 from 9:30-10:30pm ET/PT -- and moves to its regular timeslot -- Tuesdays at 9pm -- the following day on September 8.

The second season of LIFE BELOW ZERO: NEXT GENERATION premiered on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 8pm ET/PT on Nat Geo. In the one-hour season opener, "In the Blood," the fall wanes across the Arctic, and the next generation of Alaskans prepare for dark winter.

Season 3 of LIFE BELOW ZERO: NEXT GENERATION debuted on Monday, September 6, 2021 at 9:30pm ET/PT on Nat Geo, moving to its regular timeslot -- Tuesdays at 9pm -- the following day on Tuesday, September 7. In the season opener, "Winter's Test," exploration is key to surviving the harsh Arctic elements.

LIFE BELOW ZERO: NEXT GENERATION returned for its fourth season on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at 8pm ET/PT on Nat Geo. Joining the program in Season 4 are father-son duo, Robert, 49, and RJ, 25, who have Tlingit Native heritage and live in Sitka, Alaska. Robert is a hard-working Alaskan who is a Fisheries Biologist for the U.S. Forest Service restoring salmon habitats and who has his own business hand-making and selling garments out of furs he harvests. RJ makes his money as a charter boat captain. For both, their main passion remains living a subsistence lifestyle. Robert and his wife Alycia met online, and she moved to Alaska ten years ago, after they fell in love. The couple have a 9-year-old daughter named Eva who loves coming with dad and RJ on camping trips. In the season opener, "Clean Shot," Alaskans must take what nature gives them.
