Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Bob Sumner, the co-creator of DEF COMEDY JAM, LAFF MOBB'S WE GOT NEXT is a hybrid standup/reality series that spotlights the next generation of African-American comedians doing clean comedy. This weekly, one-hour series takes viewers into Sumner's casting room, where he decides which comedians are ready to be in the spotlight on stage. (In the first season, Sumner made his decision with the help of his celebrity assistants: Red Grant, Brely Evans, and Carlos Koustas.) During the process, WE GOT NEXT shows performance clips and Sumner's interviews with the comedians talking about why doing clean comedy is so important and how it affects their lives. When selected, DJ Mike Smoove introduces each comic to the stage. Each 60-minute episode of Season 1 featured four comedians, including: Yoursie Thomas; Erin Jackson; Geoff Brown; DC Ervin; Reyna Amaya; Tony Baker; Austin Hall; Kevin 'Damn Fool' Simpson; Donnivin Jordan; London Brown; and many more young urban comics. LAFF MOBB'S WE GOT NEXT was filmed in front of a live audience at El Portal Theater in North Hollywood.
