Plot Synopsis

This one-hour drama series follows Alvey 'King' Kulina, who runs a mixed martial arts gym in Venice, California, where his youngest son, Nate, is a prized fighter. KINGDOM is a story about family, loyalty, ambition, glory, lust, betrayal and the raw-nerve needs and desires that inspire people to greatness -- or drive them to unthinkable treachery. In addition to Nate, Alvey's family includes: his long-time girlfriend, Lisa Prince; Jay, his eldest son, who was once a promising fighter but is now struggling with addiction; and Christina, his estranged wife and mother to his sons, Jay and Nate. But the drama really starts when Ryan Wheeler, the intelligent and good looking world-class athlete who had it all -- including Lisa -- shows up at his gym after doing time in prison, which was precipitated by a spiraling drug addiction. KINGDOM airs on Wednesdays at 9pm on DIRECTV's Audience (channel 239). In the Season 1 finale, "King Beast," everyone is focused on Jay and Ryan on fight night, leaving the rift between Alvey and Lisa for later; Lisa questions her role in their life; Christina's demons show signs of surfacing. KINGDOM returned for its 20-episode second season on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on DIRECTV's Audience Channel. Season 2 begins with Ryan defending his title and Jay finding a new obsession. Alvey's improved fortune has led to bigger gym, but also a bigger appetite for risk. Lisa is focused on managing Alicia. Nate's determination to get back in the cage causes riffs with his family and complicates his self-identity. Christina gets a taste of sober life while continuing to carry the burden of her sons' struggles towards victory -- but with victory comes agony and a price. Season 2 introduced Natalie Martinez and Jessica Szohr in their new recurring roles as inexperienced fighter Alicia Mendez and artist/photographer Laura Melvin, respectively. Plus, in the new season Mark Consuelos will play Sean Chapas, an ex-fighter and one of Alvey's oldest friends. AT&T DirecTV Audience Network's KINGDOM returned with new episodes Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 9pm. Season 2 continues to throw all of its players into the ring and pit them against their leading opponents -- guilt, fear, heartbreak, abandonment, addiction and redemption. In the highly anticipated new episode installment, Alvey is forced to face his past and deal with the impact of what's happening with the people around him. Ryan's championship match is in doubt and he accepts a challenge that will test not only his physical endurance but also his relationship with his best friend. Nate takes on a new role at Navy St. MMA gym, but insists on returning to the cage to prove he has what it takes to make it as a fighter. Alicia prepares for the biggest fight of her career and Jay's journey of ups and downs to battle his addiction and find humility progresses as his chance to secure the lightweight title nears. Lisa, unsure of what future there is for her now, confronts Alvey and makes a life altering decision that will forever change their trajectory. Season 3 of KINGDOM premiered on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 8pm ET/PT on AT&T/DirecTV's Audience Network. Frank Grillo, Kiele Sanchez, Matt Lauria, Jonathan Tucker, Nick Jonas and Joanna Going reprise their roles for the third and finale season. Kirk Acevedo joins the cast in a recurring role as a former fighter and new coach at Navy St. MMA gym. In the season opener, "Wolf Tickets," Nate looks to prove himself in the cage, and Ryan defends his title. Jay seeks balance in his new life. With plans to take King Beast to the next level, Garo presents Alvey with a lucrative offer.
