Plot Synopsis

Based on a book series by US Olympic Gold Medalist and current US Women's National Team soccer player Alex Morgan, THE KICKS is a half-hour, live-action series that follows Devin Burke, who was the star player on her soccer team until her family moved to California midway through the school year. Now, Devin has to rise to the challenge after discovering her new school team, The Kicks, has been on a losing streak over the last few months and they are badly in need of a leader to rally the team -- and take them on a journey to the top. Season 1 opens with Devin trying out for a high level Club Soccer team and is excited by the coach's positive feedback. Her parents won't let her play for both teams so Devin quits The Kicks in favor of the more skilled Club team. When she doesn't make the Club roster, Devin has to get back in the good graces of The Kicks whose feelings she initially hurt. The rest of the first season finds The Kicks going head-to-head with the boys' team, helping Devin regain her confidence after losing her lucky headband, Devin being forced to make a decision between her friend and what's best for the team, and Devin overcoming adversity after an injury. Amazon released the pilot for the THE KICKS on Friday, June 26, 2016 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, 14 months before the official series premiere on Friday, August 26, 2016.
