Plot Synopsis

THE INDIAN DETECTIVE is a crime dramedy series that follows Doug D'Mello, a suspended Toronto cop of Indian heritage, as he becomes embroiled in a murder case while visiting his father, Stanley, in Mumbai. The investigation leads Doug to uncover a dangerous conspiracy while dealing with his own ambivalence towards a country where despite his heritage, he is an outsider. The series opens with a suspended Doug visiting his father in Mumbai and connecting with Priya Sehgal, an earnest and dedicated lawyer born into an upper-middle class family, who seeks his help with a murder investigation. Then, Doug and Priya search for a missing Canadian traveler who could have important information. In Toronto, Robyn and Rocco start to follow leads. Next, Doug and Priya turn their focus to a man who's been doing the Chandekars' dirty work. Doug asks Robyn to check in on an officer who may be in danger. Finally, Doug flies back to Toronto and races to stop a shipment at the border. Meanwhile, Priya rushes to present compelling evidence against Gopal Chandekar. On Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, THE INDIAN DETECTIVE had its U.S. premiere, as Netflix released the entire four-episode first season.
