Plot Synopsis

I LOVE A MAMA'S BOY is a one-hour reality series that follows four young women who each find themselves in a love triangle with their boyfriend's mother. These guys are spoiled, coddled and spoon-fed -- in some cases quite literally -- by their overbearing mothers, sending their relationships into serious romantic crisis. These women must compete for the affection of their significant others with some very significant mothers! Throughout the series, awkward moments ranging from cringeworthy to catastrophic erupt as these young women vie to become the leading lady in their man's life and hope that these mama's boys will finally cut the cord. The love triangles include:

Stephanie (25), Mike (25), and Mom Liz (49): Stephanie has been dating Mike for a while and they recently moved in together, which has taken their relationship to the next level. Stephanie is very excited for what this means for them as a couple, but the only catch is that Mike is a full-on mama's boy. She's hoping to get engaged soon but refuses to cater to his every need the same way his mom always has. Stephanie struggles with how to win over her boyfriend's overprotective mother and feels that her approval is the only way she will be able to have a future (and a ring) with the man she loves.

Emily (24), Shekeb (30), and Mom Laila (61): Emily and Shekeb immediately clicked the first time they met two years ago. Since their initial interaction however, there have been many conflicts between Emily and Shekeb's mom, Laila. There are vast religious and cultural differences between the two that Laila cannot seem to get over. On top of this, Emily wants Shekeb to move out of his parent's house so they can start their life together, but he doesn't want to rush leaving his mother or upset her. Will Shekeb's extreme devotion to his mom along with their cultural differences be too much for Emily to handle?

Justina (26), Jason (28), and Mom Annette (49): Justina is planning her long overdue wedding to Jason, but his overbearing mother Annette is determined to have the wedding of her dreams. Torn between his fiance and his mommy, Jason struggles to diffuse the tension between Justina and Annette. Will Justina end up with the wedding of her dreams, or will she be bulldozed into accepting her future mother-in-law's vision instead?

Kim (25), Matt (28), and Mom Kelly (56): Kim finds herself living with her boyfriend Matt in his mother Kelly's house, to the detriment of their sex life. This pair is ready for the next step and plan on building a home together, but there's a catch! The couple's new home is right behind Matt's parents' home, meaning, Kim will have to share Matt with his mom until the end of time. Will this smothering impact Kim and Matt's relationship?



The sophomore season of I LOVE A MAMA'S BOY premiered on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at 10pm ET/PT on TLC, featuring two new mama's boys and picks up with three returning trios. The romantic entanglements continue with even more overbearing mothers as these significant others continue to fight for love, attention and alone time with the men they love. From a mother joining their son's honeymoon to sneaking around on mother/son date nights, who will take the leading role in their man's life...their mother or their mate? Season 2 couples are:

Tia, Theous and mom Carolyn (new): Carolyn expects Theous to be at her beck and call, but Tia needs him to draw some boundaries with his mom before she'll meet him down the aisle. Carolyn's bad knee makes her extra needy of Theous's time, but that doesn't stop her from intruding into every aspect of their lives, including a Vegas vacation.

Tracy, Bryan and mom Jayne (new): Jayne is oblivious to how she interferes in her son's life, wedding, marriage and now honeymoon! Tracy needs to set the record straight and create boundaries they can all live by, but Bryan's loyalty to his mom erases any line Tracy draws. As Jayne makes the honeymoon more about her vacation time than watching the kids, Tracy and Bryan struggle to find any romance and alone time. It's more of a honeymoon from hell!

Emily, Shekeb, and Mom Laila (returning): Emily and Shekeb are back together, but the women will have to accept each other if the couple can truly move forward. Emily is sure that a ring on her finger will force progress, while Laila holds her ground and tries to convince Shekeb otherwise.

Kim, Matt, and Mom Kelly (returning): As Kelly tries to take over Matt and Kim's wedding and their new house, a job offer in Texas derails everyone's plans. While Matt contemplates his future, Kim and Kelly go head to head for his love and affection.

Stephanie, Mike, and Mom Liz (returning): Stephanie and Mike are at a fork in the road. Stephanie wants to go one way to follow her dreams, while Liz is waving Mike over in the opposite direction to plant roots close to her. Their bond may not be strong enough to survive Liz, as her meddling and bad advice may finally pull these two apart for good.

Shekeb takes a break from Emily and wonders if home with mom is where his heart is; Nancy faces the consequences of her actions; Lorenda has a surprising reaction to Tre's breakup; Leyna expresses concerns about her future.
