Plot Synopsis

Ben and Erin Napier help newcomers to their hometown of Laurel, Mississippi find a house and renovate it into their dream home complete with southern charm. The couple is passionate about making their town flourish like it did years ago, and the best way they know how is to make Laurel a friendly and welcoming place to live. During each episode, Ben and Erin will show clients two outdated, but budget-friendly properties that meet the families' needs. Erin, an artist, will share her watercolor rendering of both old houses to help families see how she and Ben will update it into their dream home. As construction gets underway, Ben, a wood worker and craftsman, will use reclaimed materials from the property to build one-of-a-kind pieces for the homeowners, including a bench made from front porch flooring and a 12-foot dining room table crafted from repurposed sunroom beams. HGTV premiered the pilot of this series on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Noon ET/PT, with the official series premiered debuting 14 months later on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 10pm on HGTV. In the premiere episode, Ben and Erin assist a military family with three young children as they transition to small town life. The couple restores one of the city's oldest homes -- a rundown 4,000-square-foot Craftsman-style cottage built in 1917 -- into a dream home that features a gorgeous open-concept kitchen, attached mudroom and functional, kid-friendly homeschool room. Ben and Erin also surprise the family with special touches including a hand-crafted copper gas lantern for the front porch and an island countertop made from a vintage bowling alley floor.

On Monday, January 8, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT, HGTV premiered the 10-episode second season of HOME TOWN. In the season opener, "Banquette Dreams," Virginia newlyweds look for a new place to call home in Mississippi. They have an all-in budget and a wish list that includes a banquette, a master bedroom and a spacious front porch. After showing the couple two houses, Ben and Erin begin work creating a warm, welcoming cottage with never-before-seen porch swings and a beautiful kitchen banquette that reminds the happy couple of home.

Season 3 of HOME TOWN premiered on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT on HGTV. Small town life in Laurel, Mississippi -- from the bustling downtown to the idyllic tree-lined streets with beautiful old homes -- continues to inspire Ben and Erin Napier in the new season. In the season opener, "A Vacation Every Day," the Napiers find a large home for Toy and Cory, who are moving their family of five inland from the Mississippi coast for Toy's new job as school district superintendent. They are looking for a large home with architectural details and plenty of space for their three kids, as well as a new kitchen, a private master retreat, and a spa-like bathroom. Their budget goes a long way as they consider a 5,000-square-foot brick beauty and a 3,600-square-foot home with a pond and gazebo. They add a personal touch with Ben's custom wooden bed and Erin's hand-thrown pottery bowl that accents the kitchen's colorful Spanish tile. As the season progresses, the couple creatively reimagines awkward home layouts, repairs rough exteriors and saves original architectural elements. Ben and Erin aren't deterred by challenging projects -- even a home purchase and full renovation with a shocking all-in budget of less than $100,000.
HOME TOWN returned for its fourth season on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 9pm ET/PT on HGTV. In the season opener, "From Los Angeles to Laurel," actor Richard T. Jones and his wife, Nancy, fell in love with Mississippi and want to invest in the community. Their wish list includes a historical home with good bones, so Ben and Erin give it a classic Craftsman front porch, a colorful makeover, and a cozy master bedroom. When a tornado hits Laurel, the Napiers join the community to see where and how they can help. They also must wait to find out if any of the homes they have renovated, including the home for Richard and Nancy, were impacted. The episode includes footage that shows the storm damage to Laurel and the clean-up effort facing the community.
