Plot Synopsis

FINDING BIGFOOT documents four people who travel across America in search of the elusive Sasquatch. Matt Moneymaker, the co-founder of the Bigfoot Field Research Organization (BFRO), and three other people, including a former roadie (Bobo), a high school science teacher (Cliff), and a skeptical scientist (Ranae), look for signs of Bigfoot in North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Washington, Oregon, and Alaska. At each location, Matt encourages scores of volunteers to look for signs of Sasquatch, including footprints, hair samples, broken tree branches and stick structures. Plus, the teams uses new technology to find new evidence and while trying to lure the mysterious beast with Bobo's "Squatch" call. Animal Planet aired a sneak peek of the series on Memorial Day 2011, Monday, May 30, 2011 at 11pm ET. During the show's third season, which premiered on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 10pm ET, the crew ventured out of North America for the first time, as they traveled to Australia in search of "yowies" and Indonesia hunting "orang-pendek." After visiting 33 states and five countries in the first three season, in Season 4 the hunters discover compelling new evidence, which sparks a global excursion into China and Nepal to search for bigfoot's distant cousins, the Chinese yeren and the yeti, better known as the Abominable Snowman. But before heading overseas, they kick off Season 4 with a special trip to Fouke, Arkansas, the scene of the infamous 1972 documentary "The Legend of Boggy Creek." Season 4 premiered on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at 10pm ET/PT on Animal Planet. FINDING BIGFOOT returned for its fifth season on Sunday, November 9, 2014 from 9-11pm ET/PT on Animal Planet. Plus, the Bigfoot team hosted a live Google Hangout during the two-hour season premiere, beginning at 9pm Eastern, where they answer questions tweeted by viewers using #SquatchChat. In the season opener, "Squatching in the Midnight Sun," new evidence brings the team back to Alaska, where they decide to divide and conquer. While Matt and Bobo are down in the small village of Bethel, Ranae and Cliff are investigating near Fairbanks. On Sunday, May 31, 2015 from 9-11pm ET/PT, Animal Planet premiered the sixth season of FINDING BIGFOOT. In the two-hour season opener, "Amazon Squatchin'," the team travels to the Amazon River basin in search of the mythical Mapinguari. With one eye and a gaping mouth on its stomach, the team does not give into the myth, convinced it's yet another undiscovered primate, and set out to find it in the vast jungle. Season 7 of FINDING BIGFOOT premiered on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT on Animal Planet. In the two-hour season premiere, "Squatch Wars: U.S. vs. Canada," Bigfoot Field Research Organization (BFRO) president Matt Moneymaker, researchers James "Bobo" Fay and Cliff Barackman and field biologist Ranae Holland split up to determine the better sasquatch habitat: the American or Canadian wilderness. While the countries share a border, they boast different landscapes, so Cliff and Matt investigate the Canadian bush while Bobo and Ranae scour their home turf for evidence. Later in the season, the team investigates the following states: Maine, where a cornucopia of bigfoot artifacts exists in the Pine Tree State; New Hampshire, where concerned resort owners in Mount Washington reach out to the team with a slew of reported sasquatch sightings gathered throughout many years; Georgia, where the team goes into full stealth mode and utilizes tips from military members to investigate forests just off base; and Oregon, where the team takes a helicopter trip deep into the Oregon wilderness to one of the most remote locations in the show's history. All-new episodes of FINDING BIGFOOT began with a two-hour special airing Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 9-11pm ET/PT on Animal Planet. On the March 31 premiere, "Supernatural Bigfoot," the bigfoot team heads to North California to meet up with another group of bigfooters -- the Supernatural Bigfoot Group -- which believe the only explanation for the lack of physical evidence is that bigfoot must be beyond this world. Other locations the FINDING BIGFOOT team will explore in all-new episodes include: Southern Oregon, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, and the Appalachian Trail.
