Plot Synopsis

Host Anthony Anderson travels across the United States to the most delicious festivals, tasting dishes that offer classic interpretations and surprising twists of regional favorite foods. Along the way, he meets the amazing characters devoted to local cuisine, following them as they compete to be called the best of the best. Plus, he'll dance, race and compete in contests at every stop. In each 30-minute episode of EATING AMERICA, Anthony heads to a different American food fest, including: the World Championship Steak Cook-off in Magnolia, AR, where over 80 grillers compete for the Governor's Cup trophy and $4,000 top prize; the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival on Amelia Island, FL, where he assists with a large shrimp boil and meets the contenders in the Shrimp Dish Challenge; the Texas Crab Festival in Crystal Beach, where he participates in a Crab Race, a Weiner Dog Race and even a Texas Two-Step dance-off; the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience, where he cooks with elite competitors vying for the coveted title of King of Louisiana Seafood; Chicago's annual Ribfest, where he checks out the world-ranked competitors at the rib eating contest and challenges a fest-goer to balloon darts; the Long Grove Strawberry Festival in Long Grove, IL, where the specialty menu items are strawberry ricotta ravioli and strawberry balsamic chicken; and many more festivals across the U.S.

On Monday, September 15, 2014 at 10:30pm ET/PT, Food Network aired the Season 1 finale of EATING AMERICA. In the season ender, Anthony Anderson licks, eats and slurps his way through the Rockwood Ice Cream Festival in Wilmington, Delaware, along with 40,000 other ice cream maniacs. Anthony satisfies his sweet tooth with ice cream concoctions like a bacon salted caramel sundae and a creative raspberry chocolate creation.
