Plot Synopsis

Each hour-long episode of DEAD SILENT features one spine-tingling and terrifying true story, interwoven with expert commentary from local authorities, true-crime experts, and psychologists, as well as first-person accounts from many of the victims who survived nightmarish events in the dark and desolate great outdoors where nobody could reach them. Deep in the woods, inside an abandoned house, or along the shores of a sleepy lake, every snap of a twig and unidentified rustle can be a sign of danger. This series tackles every myth, urban legend, and horror movie dread that collide to showcase real-life, dark-and-twisted tales too frightening to be imaginary. In the premiere episode, "The Curse of Dismal Creek," 33-year-old Sean Farmer is on his way to meet his friend Scott Johnston at a campsite deep in the woods of Virginia. With plans to fish along the remote banks of Dismal Creek, the friends are unaware of the dark past that haunts these surroundings. In 1981, two young hikers were murdered by a stranger they met along the nearby Appalachian Trail. Decades later, as Sean starts to set up camp near that same spot, a mysterious man appears. Is the tragic history of Dismal Creek doomed to repeat itself? Subsequent episodes feature the stories of: 18-year-old Teresa Hudgens, who is on a first date with her classmate, fellow 18-year-old Joey Wells, as they join a group of locals heading to the mysterious Corpsewood Manor, a secluded mansion in rural Georgia said to be home to devil worshippers; college sweethearts Ashley Freeman and Mike Grinnan, who went off-roading on a secluded hill outside of Dallas, where a romantic evening swiftly turns into a night of terror; Larry Cragun, whose mind deals with the isolation of Bayview, Idaho, a remote and breathtakingly beautiful lakeside community which become peaceful after tourist season ends; 24-year-old Alicia Eakins, who moves to St. Augustine, FL, meets local charmer RJ Faba, and moves into his remote home deep in the Ocala National Forest; and 19-year-old Will Kleier and his best friends, 20-year-olds Jon Perez and Keyton Cornelius, who hike, hunt and enjoy the high California desert until them meet an armed and dangerous drifter.

The sophomore season of DEAD SILENT premiered on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "Till Death Do Us Part," married couple Doug and Rozina Anderson's decision to take a long weekend in the peaceful woods of Northern California turns out to be a fateful mistake.

Season 3 of DEAD SILENT premiered on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "Picture of Evil," a picture-perfect dinner for two dissolves into a nightmare for Dominique 'Nicky' Hurd -- a college sophomore and cheerleader at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff -- and a fellow classmate after they become the targets of a deranged predator.
DEAD SILENT returned for its fourth season on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 10pm ET/PT on Investigation Discovery. In the season opener, "Quiet the Dogs," Connie Hilton and her husband George left Dallas and moved to a rural enclave in East Texas, where life couldn't be more perfect. But one early September morning, their peaceful, easy-living country life is abruptly and brutally shattered for good.
