Plot Synopsis

Cameras follow Larry David (playing himself) at home, at work and around town in Los Angeles as he gets into predicaments with fictional and real-life personalities. Jeff Garlin plays his manager and Cheryl Hines is his wife, but the series is well-known for its appearances by guest celebrities -- sometimes playing themselves, sometimes acting as characters. This program proves how seemingly trivial details of one's day-to-day life -- a trip to the movies, a phone call, a visit from some trick-or-treaters -- can precipitate a Murphy's Law chain of misfortune to hilarious effect, putting Larry into uncomfortable situations that end up alienating him from peers and acquaintances. "Curb Your Enthusiasm" is shot without a script, and the cast is only given scene outlines so that they improvise lines as they go. CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, starring Larry David, returned to HBO for its ninth season on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT, bringing back cast member favorites Cheryl Hines as Cheryl, Jeff Garlin as Jeff, Susie Essman as Susie and J.B. Smoove as Leon, as well as series veterans Richard Lewis, Bob Einstein, Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen. Also appearing on CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM this season are Elizabeth Banks, Ed Begley, Jr., Carrie Brownstein, Bryan Cranston, Lauren Graham, Jimmy Kimmel, Nick Offerman, Nasim Pedrad and Elizabeth Perkins. Season 9 directors include Jeff Schaffer, Larry Charles, Robert B. Weide, Jessie Nelson and Bryan Gordon. Asked why he decided to come back, David said, "In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, 'I left, I did nothing, I returned.'"
On Sunday, December 3, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT, HBO premiered "Fatwa!," the 50-minute Season 9 finale of CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM. Larry has a scheduling conflict, takes issue with work associates and hosts a pair of ungrateful house guests.
