Plot Synopsis

This procedural finds the members of the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU), led by David Rossi and Aaron Hotchner, investigating crimes not by focusing on the crime but instead studying and profiling the criminal. Each episode examines a separate criminal and revolves around a specific quote -- originally read by BAU Supervisor Jason Gideon but now the responsibility is shared by the remaining BAU staff. Other members include Special Agent Derek Morgan, an expert on obsessional crimes; Special Agent Dr. Spencer Reid, a classically misunderstood genius whose social IQ is as low as his intellectual IQ is high; Jennifer 'JJ' Jareau, the team's former unit liaison-turned-profiler who recently married her longtime love; Penelope Garcia, the team's indispensible computer wizard who helps research the cases with her unique charm; and the team's newest member, Alex Blake, who rejoins the FBI after a stint as a university teacher and brings her linguistics expertise to the BAU. Each member brings his or her own area of expertise to the table as they pinpoint predators' motivations and identify their emotional triggers in the attempt to stop them.

Season 10 of CRIMINAL MINDS premiered on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT on CBS. In the season opener, "X," the BAU team investigates a series of murders in Bakersfield, CA, which have left the victims unidentifiable. Also, the team welcomes new agent Kate Callahan into the BAU fold, who assists them in their efforts in solving the cases. Jennifer Love Hewitt joins the cast as a series regular, playing FBI undercover agent Kate Callahan, a seasoned undercover agent whose stellar work at the FBI has landed her a coveted position with the BAU.

CRIMINAL MINDS returned for its eleventh season on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on CBS. In the season opener, "The Job," the BAU searches for a serial killer who leaves distinctive marks on victims' faces with the help of an impressive potential new team member, forensic psychologist Dr. Tara Lewis. Aisha Tyler joins the cast in a recurring role as forensic psychologist Dr. Tara Lewis.

Season 12 of CRIMINAL MINDS premiered on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT on CBS. In the season opener, "The Crimson King," Agent Luke Alvez (new cast member Adam Rodriguez) joins the BAU team, which is tasked with capturing a killer who escaped prison with 13 other convicts at the end of last season. Rodriguez joins the cast as Luke Alvez, a new recruit to the BAU from the FBI's Fugitive Task Force. Starting with the season's third episode (October 12), Paget Brewster returns as Emily Prentiss.

The thirteenth season of CRIMINAL MINDS premiered on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT on CBS, with Daniel Henney joining the cast as Agent Matt Simmons, an ex-Delta soldier and former International Response Team member. In the season opener, "Wheels Up," Simmons joins the BAU team in a race to take down Mr. Scratch and save one of their own in the process.

Season 14 of CRIMINAL MINDS premiered on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT on CBS. The season opener, "300," written by Executive Producer Erica Messer, is the show's 300th episode. When Reid and Garcia are abducted by Benjamin Merva (guest star Michael Hogan), it's up to the rest of the team to find them. The BAU finds surprising clues in their own history to solve why the two heroes have been targeted by a mass murderer. It's a race to save them before a "Believers" prophecy is fulfilled.

The fifteenth and final season of CRIMINAL MINDS premiered on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 from 9-11pm ET/PT, as CBS debuted back-to-back new episodes. In the season opener, "Under the Skin," the BAU team investigates an UnSub with striking similarities to Rossi's latest obsession, "The Chameleon," a.k.a. Everett Lynch (guest star Michael Mosley), who nearly killed him and then disappeared. Then, in the night's second episode, "Awakenings," with a member of the BAU in the hospital, the team searches for Everett Lynch, and his daughter, Grace (guest star Alex Jennings). Also, Spencer has a meaningful visit with his mother, Diana Reid (guest star Jane Lynch), while she's experiencing a period of lucidity.
