Plot Synopsis

Animal hoarders have a compulsive need to possess a large number animals, often too many animals for them to control, and the situation often goes unaddressed until it becomes a crime. This series takes a look at this condition -- not yet formally recognized as a distinct psychological disorder -- examines real people, and shows how this disorder affects the pets themselves. The series also provides an opportunity for family members and friends to help their loved ones and prevent them from spinning further out of control. Having no previous established protocol, the series coordinates task-force interventions by psychologists, animal welfare experts, veterinarians, friends and families to help individuals recognize the root of their issues and take healthy steps to address their animal hoarding.
