Plot Synopsis

THE CHALLENGE: UNTOLD HISTORY is a six-episode documentary series that explores the conception, evolution and legacy of THE CHALLENGE (originally known as THE REAL WORLD/ROAD RULES CHALLENGE), enlisting competitors, producers, media analysts, and famous fans to reveal the untold history of the greatest competition series on television. Known for its ability to reinvent the wheel and heighten the competition season after season, over 30 competitors and CHALLENGE icons including Wes Bergman, Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio, Aneesa Ferreria, Mark Long, CT Tamburello, Darrell Taylor, Laurel Stuckey and Kam Williams return to share behind-the-scenes stories from their extraordinary time competing in "America's fifth major sport." Episodes include:

"Dawn of an Empire" (Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 8pm): This is the true story...of how cast members from THE REAL WORLD and ROAD RULES came together to compete for cash and prizes on THE CHALLENGE and ended up taking a small '90s cable show to heights no one could have conceived.

"Evolution of the Empire" (Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 9pm): Twenty seasons in, the evolution of THE CHALLENGE had only just begun as it transformed into a reality competition soap-opera that thrives on cinematic themes, intense games, and a wealth of cast history.

"Against All Odds" (Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 8pm): Underdogs are the true heroes of THE CHALLENGE, achieving against all odds and climbing personal mountains, all while overcoming an extremely competitive environment.

"The GOATS" (Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 9pm): What makes a legend? Wins? Physical dominance? Mental toughness? Cool under pressure? In a game as intense and complex as THE CHALLENGE, the only answer is all of the above.

"Love Is Not a Game" (Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 8pm): Can love survive in a cutthroat game? Countless couples found each other on THE CHALLENGE over its 37 seasons. Some were short-lived, others went wrong, and one was kept entirely off-camera but a few have stood the test of time.
