Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Jonathan Bennett and judged by master pastry chefs Ron Ben-Israel and Waylynn Lucas, each week of CAKE WARS features four different expert bakers who face off in two elimination culinary challenges. The decorator with the last cake standing earns $10,000 and gets to showcase their winning creation at a special engagement. In the first round, the contestants must incorporate a surprise ingredient into the recipe. Then, in round two, the cakes must contain three special features that match the event theme. Based on taste and presentation, only one will have their cake and eat it too as the winner. Over the course of the first season, the bakers vie for the chance to showcase their eye-popping cakes at big events, with special themed episodes for THE SIMPSON, DC Comics, Nintendo's Mario Maker, Hello Kitty, LEGO, Girl Scouts, The Knot Dream Wedding, and the 50th anniversary of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. For each episode, Ron and Waylynn are joined by at least one guest judge associated with the episode's theme and event, including Matt Selman, executive producer of THE SIMPSONS; Dan DiDio, Geoff Johns and Jim Lee, senior executives and comic book artists for DC Comics; Krysta Yang, from Nintendo of America; and more. A new season of CAKE WARS premiered on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT on Food Network, with Jonathan Bennett returning as host and Ron Ben-Israel and Waylynn Lucas again at the judges' table. The 13-episode season features themed episodes such as Star Wars, Dr. Seuss, Kung Fu Panda 3, Minecraft, Shrek, Sesame Street, Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory, Archie, Alice in Wonderland, and many more. In the season opener, "Star Wars," CAKE WARS takes on one of the biggest adventures in the galaxy ... STAR WARS. One of the four talented cake makers will have their winning creation front and center at a huge bash celebrating Disney's newest STAR WARS video game -- and walk out $10,000 richer. Vice President of Development for Disney Infinity, John Vignocchi, joins the judging panel to help determine who will win and whose cake will succumb to the dark side. On Monday, June 6, 2016 at 9pm ET/PT, Food Network premiered a 13-episode new season of CAKE WARS, with host Jonathan Bennett and judges Ron Ben-Israel and Waylynn Lucas testing the talents and imagination of the contestants in two rounds of specially-themed challenges. Only one of four talented bakers will take their incredible cake creation to a party celebrating the super-soldier hero's 75th birthday and take home $10,000. Stephen Wacker, VP of Animation at Marvel, is on hand as guest judge to help decide.
