Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Colby Donaldson, each one-hour episode of THE BUTCHER features four masters of the butchery craft who bring their sharp knives and expert skills to this meat competition, which puts their knowledge, strategy and technique to the ultimate test. With their sharp knives and even sharper skills, these butchers carve their way through painstaking challenges, use their expert talent to adapt to historical twists, and reveal the fascinating secrets of the butcher's world -- all as they try to impress the three judges: Roxanne Spruance, David 'Dave the Butcher' Budworth, and Michael 'Sully' Sullivan. At the end of each of the first two rounds, one best-in-class butcher is sent home, until only two competitors advance to the final round, where a mystery beast is revealed. The butcher who produces the most valued meat earns the title of Butcher Champion and takes home the $10,000 prize. In the series opener, "Meat the Monster," the butchers must first break down a pig with an historical twist -- they must use an old-school, two-handed hogsplitter. After one butcher is eliminated, the remaining three are tasked with cutting steaks using an incredible and overlooked butchery skill -- eyeballing to weight without a scale. In the final round, the mystery beast is a giant gator.

On Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 10pm ET/PT, History premiered "The Beast," the season finale of THE BUTCHER. Four Butchers slice into the first round of competition where they must break down a lamb with a kopis blade. They race to complete a "difficult customer's" order to weight without using a scale. Only two butchers advance to the final round where they take on an elk. Only one can impress the judges and emerge as The Butcher Champion and take home the $10,000 prize.
