Plot Synopsis

Each year since 1984, the BREEDERS' CUP, also known as "Racing's Greatest Day," has been held at an iconic track in the United States at the end of the thoroughbred racing season worldwide. The BREEDERS' CUP features multiple races, but is highlighted by the BREEDERS' CUP CLASSIC, run at 1-1/4 miles, which usually includes the top contenders and winners from that years KENTUCKY DERBY, PREAKNESS STAKES, and BELMONT STAKES in addition to horses that qualified through the BREEDERS' CUP CHALLENGE SERIES. The inaugural BREEDERS' CUP was held at Hollywood Park in Los Angeles, with seven races, featuring the world's greatest horses, jockeys and trainers competing on one stage for $10 million in purses. NBC provided four hours of coverage of the first event, and has been the U.S. television home of the event since then.
On Saturday, November 2, 2019, NBC broadcasts live coverage of the BREEDERS' CUP CLASSIC from Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, CA, with a scheduled post-time of 8:44pm ET/5:44pm PT for a field that includes: Math Wizard, winner of the Pennsylvania Derby; Seeking the Soul; Owendale, winner of the Oklahoma Derby at Remington Park; War of Will; Yoshida; Elate, looking to celebrate the 10-year anniversary Zenyatta becoming the first and only female runner to win the Classic; Higher Power, victorious in the Pacific Classic on Aug. 17; McKinzie, the morning-line favorite and son of Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense; Mongolian Groom, looking to repeat its win in the "Win and You're In" challenge when it went off at 25-1; Vino Rosso, already with a Santa Anita win when the 4-year-old captured the Gold Cup on May 27; and Code of Honor, second in the 2019 Kentucky Derby.

Ahmed Fareed hosts coverage, joined by analyst and Hall of Fame jockey Jerry Bailey, who owns 15 Breeders' Cup wins, including five victories in the Classic, analyst Randy Moss; host/reporters Laffit Pincay III and Nick Luck; analyst/handicapper Eddie Olczyk and reporters Kenny Rice, Donna Brothers, and Britney Eurton. NBC's Triple Crown race caller Larry Collmus will call all of the Breeders' Cup races. Additional highlights:

- Actress, director and Breeders' Cup Ambassador Elizabeth Banks will be featured in the Saturday night Classic show open on NBC from the set of Charlie's Angels.

- Eddie Olczyk interviews Colorado Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson, owner of multiple horses expected to run in the Breeders' Cup.

- A feature on McKinzie, named for trainer Bob Baffert's longtime friend and Los Alamitos Race Course executive Brad McKinzie, who died of cancer in 2017.
