Plot Synopsis

Twenty years ago BoJack Horseman was the star of the hit TV show HORSIN' AROUND, but today he's washed up, living in a Hollywood bachelor pad, and complaining about everything. BoJack really only wants one thing -- to climb his way back to fame as a television comedy star -- but he's caught in a cycle of self-loathing, whiskey and failed relationships. Now, in the presence of his deadbeat roommate Todd, his feline agent and ex-lover Princess Carolyn, and his human ghostwriter Diane, BoJack is primed for his comeback and must figure out what to do next. On Friday, August 22, 2014, Netflix released all 12 episodes of the first season of this animated sitcom.

Netflix released the 12-episode second season on Friday, July 17, 2015. In Season 2, BoJack is now starring in his dream movie (a biopic of Secretariat), but humbled by the events of last season, BoJack attempts to use his career second wind as a stepladder to a springboard to becoming a newer, better BoJack. But new challenges on set and in his personal life -- and the demons of his past -- make it difficult to shake off the skin of his previous self. If Season 1 of BOJACK HORSEMAN is about a character learning he needs to change, this new season is about whether or not he can.

Netflix premiered Season 3 BOJACK HORESMAN on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT. BoJack is grappling with his legacy while trudging through an increasingly turbulent Oscar campaign for his star-making turn in the Secretariat biopic. BoJack struggles with how he'll ultimately be remembered by his fans and what lasting impact he's made on those closest to him. Also, there are lots of silly puns and talking animal jokes and celebrity cameos and all the other stuff that everybody loves about BOJACK HORSEMAN.

Season 4 of BOJACK HORSEMAN debuted on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the entire 12-episode new season. In the season opener, "See Mr. Peanutbutter Run," Mr. Peanutbutter's campaign to recall the governor of California culminates in a high-stakes ski race. Meanwhile, BoJack is nowhere to be found. Guest voices in the fourth season include: Sasheer Zamata, Natasha Rothwell, Hannibal Buress, Aparna Nancherla, Jane Krakowski, Matthew Broderick, Felicity Huffman, Andre Braugher, and more.

On Friday, September 14, 2018 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, Netflix released the 12-episode fifth season of BOJACK HORSEMAN. BoJack's back on screen as the star of "Philbert," a new detective series produced by Princess Carolyn. But his demons are out in full force. In the season opener, "The Light Bulb Scene," BoJack has misgivings about his new show. Princess Carolyn visits an adoption agency. Todd interviews for a job at WhatTimeIsItRightNow.com.

BOJACK HORSEMAN returned for the first eight episodes of Season 6 on Friday, October 25, 2019 at 3:01am ET/12:01am PT, as Netflix released the first half of the show's sixth and final season. Part of the final season will be released on Friday, January 31, 2020. In Season 6, BoJack inches his way toward redemption as a stint in rehab forces him to confront his mistakes and start making amends.
