Plot Synopsis

The series starts in 2002 -- six years before crooked strip-mall lawyer Saul Goodman meets Walter White -- with this spinoff prequel focuses on Saul's life when he is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny and hustling to make ends meet. Jimmy's a legitimate lawyer, an underdog fighting to make a name for himself, but his moral compass and his ambition are often at war with each other. Working alongside and often against Jimmy is fixer Mike Ehrmantraut, a former cop from Philadelphia who took early retirement due to a series of dark events that he'd prefer to keep buried in the past. Then there's Jimmy's older brother Chuck, a brilliant man of high ideals, who is a name partner at one of Albuquerque's most prestigious law firms, where he works with go-to litigator Kim Wexler and law partner Howard Hamlin. In a June 19, 2014 press release, AMC confirmed that the initial order for BETTER CALL SAUL was two seasons and a total of 23 episodes, scheduled for February 2015 (10-episode Season 1) and early 2016 (13-episode Season 2). BETTER CALL SAUL will have a two-night television event for its premiere, debuting on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 10pm ET/PT on AMC with its second episode airing the next day, Monday, February 9 at 10pm ET/PT.

BETTER CALL SAUL returned for its second season on Monday, February 15, 2016 at 10pm ET/PT on AMC, immediately following an all-day marathon (11:15am-10pm) of encore episodes of the entire first season. "Jimmy McGill's journey takes surprising, left-handed turns in Season 2. He goes to places we'd never, ever expected. As for Mike Ehrmantraut, he's pulled deeper into a world he was sure he'd left forever," said Peter Gould, executive producer and showrunner. "We can't wait to share the next chapter of BETTER CALL SAUL with the fans who have embraced the show." In the season opener, "Switch," Mike feels it is best to sever his affiliation with an unrestrained associate.

Season 3 of BETTER CALL SAUL premiered on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 10pm ET/PT on AMC, immediately following a 10.5-hour marathon (11:30am-10pm) of encore episodes from the entire second season. Season 2 ended with a pair of cliffhangers. Determined to prevent his brother from practicing law, Chuck staged an elaborate con, secretly recording Jimmy's confession to a felony. When Mike set his sights on sociopathic cartel boss Hector Salamanca, an ominous intervention stopped him from pulling the trigger, raising questions as to what other dangerous players may be in the game. As the new season begins, the repercussions of Chuck's scheme test Jimmy and Kim's fledgling law practices -- and their romance -- as never before. This imminent existential threat presses Jimmy's faltering moral compass to the limit. Meanwhile, Mike searches for a mysterious adversary who seems to know almost everything about his business. As the season progresses, new characters are introduced and backstories are further illuminated with meaningful nods to the BREAKING BAD universe. In the season opener, "Mabel," Jimmy and Chuck's relationship deteriorates, Kim feels the pressure of running her own firm, and Mike investigates the note left on his car.

The fourth season of BETTER CALL SAUL premiered on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 9pm ET/PT on AMC. In the fourth season, Chuck's death catalyzes Jimmy McGill's transformation into Saul Goodman. In the wake of his loss, Jimmy takes steps into the criminal world that will put his future as a lawyer -- and his relationship with Kim -- in jeopardy. Chuck's death deeply affects former colleagues Howard and Kim as well, putting the two of them once again on opposite sides of a battle sparked by the Brothers McGill. Meanwhile, Mike Ehrmantraut takes a more active role as Madrigal Electromotive's newest (and most thorough) security consultant. It's a volatile time to be in Gus Fring's employ, as Hector's collapse sends shock waves throughout the Albuquerque underworld and throws the cartel into chaos -- tearing apart both Gus and Nacho's well-laid plans. While Gus changes course, Nacho finds himself in the crosshairs of deadly forces. In the 65-minute season opener, "Smoke," Jimmy struggles to cope with Chuck's tragic death. Mike ponders his role at Madrigal. Howard makes a startling confession.

BETTER CALL SAUL returns for its fifth season with a special two-night premiere event on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 10:05pm ET/PT. The new season continues the next night, Monday, February 24, with an encore presentation of the season premiere at 8pm followed by the season's second episode at 9pm. Subsequent episodes debut Monday nights at 9pm. In the 10-epsiode fifth season Jimmy McGill's decision to practice law as Saul Goodman creates unexpected and profound waves of change for those in his orbit. The new season stars Bob Odenkirk, Rhea Seehorn, Jonathan Banks, Michael Mando, Giancarlo Esposito, Patrick Fabian and Tony Dalton.

The sixth and final season of BETTER CALL SAUL premieres on Monday, April 18, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on AMC and AMC+. The 13-episode final season rolls out in two parts with the first seven episodes beginning April 18 and culminating with the series' final six episodes beginning July 11. BETTER CALL SAUL's final season concludes the complicated journey and transformation of its compromised hero, Jimmy McGill, into criminal lawyer Saul Goodman. From the cartel to the courthouse, from Albuquerque to Omaha, Season 6 tracks Jimmy, Saul and Gene as well as Jimmy's complex relationship with Kim, who is in the midst of her own existential crisis. Meanwhile, Mike, Gus, Nacho, and Lalo are locked into a game of cat and mouse with mortal stakes. "In my eyes, this is our most ambitious, surprising and, yes, heartbreaking season. Even under incredibly challenging circumstances, the whole Saul team -- writers, cast, producers, directors and crew -- have outdone themselves. I couldn't be more excited to share what we've accomplished together," said Showrunner and Executive Producer Peter Gould. After a seven-week break, BETTER CALL SAUL returns with new episodes starting Monday, July 11, 2022 at 9pm ET/PT on AMC. In the mid-season premiere, "Point and Shoot," an unexpected visitor forces Jimmy and Kim to face the consequences of their actions. Including tonight's program, there are six more episodes remaining, with the series finale scheduled for August 15.
