Plot Synopsis

Hosted by Chris Harrison (Seasons 1-6) and later by Wells Adams (Season 7) and Jesse Palmer (Season 8), BACHELOR IN PARADISE features a group of former contestants from THE BACHELOR and THE BACHELORETTE, who live together in a small town while exploring new relationships, falling madly in love, and suffering unexpected heartbreak. They all left THE BACHELOR or THE BACHELORETTE with broken hearts, but now they have a second chance to find their soul mates.

Season 1 opened with 14 cast members -- eight women and six men -- entering the beach house mansion. At the first rose ceremony, the six men are given a rose to each give to a woman they'd like to spend more time getting to know in paradise. The two women left without roses are immediately sent home. Just as potential couples start to pair up, everything changes in the next episode when two new men arrive to paradise. For seven weeks, each episode alternates between two new men or two women joining the cast, forcing two people who don't receive a rose to leave paradise. In the season finale -- which premiered on Monday, September 8, 2014 from 8-10pm ET/PT on ABC -- Chris returned to give the remaining cast a shocking ultimatum: if they cannot see their relationship transitioning into their lives back home, they must leave paradise immediately. The next day, the remaining couples returned from their overnight dates. One excited bachelorette announces that her man is officially her boyfriend! While two of the women boast about how passionate their night was, one bachelorette is devastated by the lack of intimacy with her man. Chris visits the final two couples and addresses the difficulty of taking their relationships into their lives back home. When everyone gathers for a final rose ceremony, one bachelorette and her loyal man exchange roses and profess their love for one another. But then, to everyone's surprise, one nervous bachelor steals his lady away, leaving everyone wondering what will happen next?

BACHELOR IN PARADISE returned for its second season on Sunday, August 2, 2015 from 8-10pm ET/PT, as 16 former BACHELOR and BACHELORETTE cast members travel to paradise in search of a second chance at love when they arrive one by one to their own private Paradise in the gorgeous town of Sayulita, located in Vallarta-Nayarit, Mexico. Welcomed by Chris Harrison, the cast quickly gets acquainted at a Bachelor-style cocktail party on the shores of Playa Escondida. The mood changes quickly when the Mystery Woman enters Paradise, and the cast is shocked to learn who she is. Breaking the tension, Chris Harrison interrupts to explain the rules of Paradise and one shocking twist. This week, the men will hand out a rose to someone they'd like to spend more time getting to know and the women who do not receive roses will have to leave Paradise forever. Then, he informs the group he has one more surprise in store. Throughout the episode, date cards arrive for two lucky women who get a chance to ask out a man they'd like to spend alone time with, though it's not without causing drama. The first of many love triangles is quickly formed between a fixated Ashley I., her crush Jared, and sought-after Jade. When Ashley I. receives the first date card, she is overjoyed and asks out Jared. Despite his reluctance, the two head off on an adventurous date, riding an ATV through the jungle to a private beach where they both open up about their feelings and ultimately form a connection. After returning to Playa Escondida, Ashley I. soon discovers that Jade has also received a date card and fears that she may encroach on her claimed man. Jade decides to ask out Tanner, hoping to build on their chemistry and they enjoy a romantic dinner and dip in the pool. The two-night season premiere continued the next day -- Monday, August 3 -- from 8-10pm ET/PT.

Season 3 of BACHELOR IN PARADISE premiered on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 8-10pm ET/PT on ABC. Looking for a second chance at love, the cast arrive one by one to their own private paradise in the gorgeous town of Sayulita, located in Vallarta-Nayarit, Mexico. The cast comprised of former fan favorites and controversial characters from THE BACHELOR franchise live together along the shores of Paradise beach, share exotic dates, and explore new romances, all for another chance to find love. Each week, relationships are put to the test as new contestants are introduced into the mix. At the end of each week, a rose ceremony will be held where uncoupled contestants will be cast out of Paradise. After being welcomed by host Chris Harrison, the hopeful lovers get acquainted at their first informal cocktail party on the beach, with drinks served by Paradise's own bartender and unofficial therapist, Jorge. It's a mix of former contestants and a few returning PARADISE favorites ready for another chance at love. But no one is more highly anticipated than villainous Chad, hot off the heels of his dramatic exit from JoJo's season. The divisive hunk is the last to arrive, but he makes a big splash, garnering the attention of friends, curious women and former foes. Later, Chris Harrison interrupts the party to explain the rules of Paradise, including several shocking details. For the first week, the men will hand out a rose and one woman will be going home! As the cast begins to explore their new home, it's clear that this romantic seaside retreat will be the perfect place to find love! Brooklyn-born "mamma's boy" Vinny and blue-eyed sweetheart Izzy find themselves sharing their first kiss amongst the waves, marking a quick start in Paradise! Wild bachelorette Lace wastes no time in making connections of her own, jumping quickly from chiseled firefighter Grant to contentious hunk Chad, marking the start of Paradise's most intense and chaotic relationship ever. Later, the first date in Paradise goes to gorgeous and sweet ex-military bachelorette Jubilee. She takes her crush Jared on a visually stunning date, sharing an intimate dinner and taking a swing at love in a sea of brightly colored pinatas. Back at the house, things are getting wild! All eyes are on one out of control couple whose constant (and simultaneous) flirting, fighting, and use of inappropriate language rubs some the wrong way. An erratic bachelorette breaks things off when the unhinged hunk refuses to calm down. Ignoring the advice of his few friends, he escalates his unacceptable behavior, offending everyone in Paradise, including the staff. By the end of the night, the house has seen enough of this very highly anticipated Paradise arrival, and the hunk's night ends in an embarrassing mess.

ABC premiered the fourth season of BACHELOR IN PARADISE on Monday, August 14 and Tuesday August 15, 2017 from 8-10pm, with host Chris Harrison. Over the course of six weeks, fan favorites from THE BACHELOR franchise get a second chance at love while living together in Mexico, in a secluded and dreamy paradise. Viewers will watch as they fall in love or go through renewed heartbreak. Plus, America will have a front seat at the highly anticipated wedding of BACHELOR IN PARADISE Season 3 lovebirds, Carly Waddell and Evan Bass.

Season 5 of BACHELOR IN PARADISE premiered on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 8-10pm ET/PT on ABC. Host and keeper of the keys Chris Harrison is there to greet the men and women that are hoping to find true love on the beach like Carly and Evan or Jade and Tanner, who found each other in previous seasons, and have since married and started families. Later this season, these two happy couples return to make an appearance in Paradise in addition to more Bachelor Nation twosomes and fan favorites, including Ashley I. and Jared, Raven and Adam, Arie and Lauren B., Ben Higgins, Becca Kufrin and Amanda Stanton. It doesn't take long for things to get interesting when the first bachelorette makes her arrival on the beach -- literal and emotional baggage in tow. This lovelorn lady makes it clear that she is there for one former flame, even though she has no idea where his feelings stand or if he'll even be joining her in Paradise. Ultimately, when the cast assembles itself, her bachelor of choice is nowhere to be found. Dismay quickly adds to her disappointment when the first date card has this particular girl's name on it, and everyone is shocked when she decides to take another castaway from Becca's season on a romantic escapade. One fit and feisty female is thrilled that a cute grocer wasn't chosen for the first date, but when he shows interest in her nemesis, this notorious mischief-maker focuses her attention on a sexy Canadian lad. As the rest of the group get to know one another, they speculate about the first date of the season, certain that it will be platonic; but to everyone's shock, the couple discovers that they are looking for the same things in a relationship and they actually hit it off. Having finally taken his date's mind off of her long-lost love, this heartsick young woman is excited, once again, about what the future holds. However, just when she thought she had moved on, the man she was originally hoping to see in Paradise finally arrives the next morning, date card in hand. Much to the chagrin of her date from night one, she is quick to accept another chance with her past love and hops aboard his jet ski. The rejected bachelor left behind is convinced that the man from his sweet date's past has the wrong intentions, and he, along with some of the others, are itching for a confrontation when the couple returns.

The sixth season of BACHELOR IN PARADISE premiered on Monday, August 5, 2019 from 8-10pm ET/PT on ABC, with Chris Harrison returning as host. This season, fans follow former bachelors and bachelorettes as they explore new relationships while living together in a secluded and dreamy paradise in Mexico. Will they fall in love or experience yet another heartbreak? This season will be sure to feature shocking twists, surprises, unexpected guests and some of the most unlikely relationships in BACHELOR history. Which romantic hopefuls will follow in the footsteps of Chris and Krystal, Ashley I. and Jared, Jade and Tanner or Carly and Evan? Season 6 opens with members of Bachelor Nation beginning their journey for another chance at finding love at a luxurious Mexico resort, where host and keeper of the keys Chris Harrison is there to greet the nine hot men and 11 incredible women that are hoping to find true love. It doesn't take long for sparks to fly when Blake, who has already gotten to know a few of the women before arriving in Paradise, gets the first date card. Both Hannah G. and Caelynn have high hopes of receiving that invitation but are extremely disappointed when he chooses another striking woman. But that opens the door for two guys to spend time with one of the overlooked ladies. Which man will she choose? Blake finds he has a lot to answer for and multiple women from his past to juggle. Blake's former girlfriend Kristina arrives in Paradise with her own agenda. She asks Blake out, but will he rekindle his romance with Kristina or gravitate back to Caelynn, the scorned woman that has unfinished business with him -- or take up with the beautiful Hannah G., who first caught his eye in Paradise? The two-night premiere continues on Tuesday, August 6 from 8-10pm. Even though both Blake and Kristina may be open to renewing their relationship, Kristina definitely feels Blake has some explaining to do. And things only get worse for Blake as Caelynn has some choice words for him when he returns from his date. When the other women discover what is going on between the three of them, none of the ladies want anything to do with Blake. But he still sees one possibility for a chance at love. The next man to get a date card is in seventh heaven over the woman he has asked out, feeling that she could be the one he's been looking for. But first, he must deal with an unexpected visit from a female friend who has something on her mind. With three women going home at this week's rose ceremony, there is a last-minute scramble for roses at the cocktail party. One bachelorette feels pretty confident about the connection she made earlier that night, but should she be? She consoles her unattached friend who hasn't been so lucky. Another woman with two suitors lets one down easy, so the other man is convinced he is her choice. But will he be? Blake, the guy who no one wants to be with, becomes a player for the popular woman and now she is torn between Blake and another man who wears his heart on his sleeve.

Season 7 of BACHELOR IN PARADISE premiered on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 10pm ET/PT on ABC. With the resort officially open, former fan-favorite bachelors and bachelorettes are ready to find their match while living together in a tropical oasis in Mexico. Twenty-three hopefuls kick off their journeys on day one, but will additional arrivals get in the way of their search for love? Returning to his post as everyone's favorite bartender, Wells Adams also adds master of rose ceremonies to his duties and is joined throughout the season by a rotating roster of celebrity guest hosts including David Spade, Lance Bass, Lil Jon and Tituss Burgess. Laugh-master David Spade is the first guest host of the season and welcomes 13 lovely ladies (Abigail, Deandra, Jessenia, Kelsey, Mari, Maurissa, Natasha, Serena C., Serena P., Tahzjuan, Tammy, Victoria L., Victoria P.) and 10 gorgeous guys (Aaron, Brendan, Connor, Ivan, James, Joe, Karl, Kenny, Noah, Tre) to Paradise. A fan-favorite contestant from THE BACHELOR Abigail receives the honor of picking out a companion for the very first date card. Back at the resort, a kittenish Maurissa finds herself smitten with cool cat Connor, and another potential couple faces some awkward history when one woman admits to her suitor that she's kissed his uncle. Returning to the beach after finding love during his last visit, Joe immediately finds himself in a love triangle which leads him to question being back. Has someone already proven to him that it's worth sticking around? Meanwhile, plenty of the other couples do their part to make sure this first day in Paradise is the steamiest yet, with the most makeouts in the history of the show! But just as relationships seem to be gaining a solid footing, a new arrival shifts the sands and threatens to shake things up.
