Plot Synopsis

Deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest, rugged men make their living doing one of the most dangerous jobs in history... Logging. Their mission: to retrieve timber perched on mountainsides too steep to access with machines. But this is no easy task. For more than a hundred years, larger than life characters, many part of logging families that stretch back generations, have spent their days among towering trees and powerful machines, their nights in outposts far from the comforts of civilization. AX MEN tells the remarkable story of the logging industry and the men who work in it, and shows that while technology has transformed life for today's logger, the struggle of man versus nature stays the same.

Over the course of Season 6, which premiered on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 9pm ET on History Channel, eight crews embarked on the toughest challenges of their careers. They work the remote islands of Alaska, the massive forests of Canada, the high plains of Wisconsin, the murky underwater depths of northern Florida and Louisiana gator territory.

AX MEN returned for its seventh season on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at 9pm ET/PT on History. In the 20-episode Season 7, a recovery in the housing sector has timber companies kicking into overdrive. Gabe Rygaard returns to defend his crown, but must do it with a new crew -- and without his dad, Craig -- while taking on Oakes Logging, which is invading his Washington territory. In Alaska, Mike Papac returns after last year's devastating season-ending work stoppage, while working terrain that has been declared as un-loggable with a new crew member, Adrienne Preiss. Down in Louisiana, Shelby 'Swamp Man' Stanga gets an order for 200,000 board feet of wood, but it might be too much for him to handle. And over in Florida, the Dreadknots welcome a new member, Katelyn M. Simsis, as they take on Chapman Logging for control of the river logging rights for the entire northern half of the state.

On Sunday, November 30, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT, History premiered the eighth season of AX MEN. Season 8 picks up as the loggers come off a nationwide building boom forcing the crews to push further and harder. Hoping to reclaim the title of King of the Mountain, Rygaard Logging is going further into Washington's Olympic Peninsula, to an extreme site that hasn't been logged in over a century, but reigning champs Papac Alaska isn't going down without a fight. Two new crews join the ranks: Triack Logging (British Columbia), considered the black sheep of the logging industry for taking on jobs that others won't even consider; and Zitterkopf (Wyoming), a family run outfit led by David Zitterkopf, who chooses sites and sets up camp, miles from civilization, making this team not just loggers but mountain men and survivalists as well. Plus, Shelby the Swampman returns for another season in Louisiana, while the feisty Dreadknots are back facing off against Chapman Logging in Florida. In the season opener, "Logged and Loaded," Papac's dreams of a repeat title are shattered when Coatsy is seriously injured. In Canada, a new contender steps into the ring, taking on a daunting site and proving they're the special forces of the industry. Down in Florida, the Dreadknots and Chapman battle over a half-million dollar log order. And in Wyoming, old school loggers Zitterkopf & Sons tackle a 100 acre-site -- all by hand.

Season 9 of AX MEN premiered on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at 9pm ET/PT on History. In the season opener, "Shelby Strikes Back," Shelby the Swamp Man is back in action deep in the Louisiana Bayou, and this time he's on a special mission. This job is about more than just cashing in -- Shelby's client needs top quality logs to build high-end furniture that will raise money for a local charity. But finding the right logs will push them deeper and deeper into the gator-infested wilderness, and it'll take everything they have to survive the swamp...and each other.

The tenth season of AX MEN premiered on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT on History Channel. In the season opener, "Back to the Woods," the Ax Men return, facing tougher conditions than ever before. This season, industry titans Pihl Logging and Rygaard Logging tackle some of their most challenging jobs yet, attempting to thrive in a turbulent industry. Newcomer Frank Harkness makes a name for himself, logging where no one else will, and Buckin' Billy Ray takes to the tree tops of Vancouver Island, risking his life to keep other people safe.

On Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 9pm ET/PT, History Channel premiered "Untethered," the Season 10 finale of AX MEN. Jason Rygaard is racing to clear a hillside in time to fill four logging trucks; Jay R Harkness fights to control the untethered Tigercat on a steep, snow-covered mountainside; Bucking Billy and his son Hogan battle a forest of hang-ups and widow-makers; and Mike Pihl and son Danny grapple with a devastating loss.
