Plot Synopsis

Based on the radio detective drama Annika Stranded, which played on BBC Radio 4 from 2013 to 2020, ANNIKA is a one-hour crime drama series that centers on DI Annika Strandhed, the speedboat-driving head of Glasgow's newly-formed Marine Homicide Unit, who juggles baffling cases and a rebellious teenage daughter, Morgan. She's joined by: her old colleague, DS Michael McAndrews; DC Blair Ferguson, the forensic brains behind the unit; and DS Tyrone Clarke, the new cop at the station. Each episode contains a different murder story and Annika has the habit of applying literary and historical references to the investigation. Plus, Annika confides in the audience -- directly addressing viewers with erudite soliloquies or waggish observations on a case or her personal life. Nicola Walker reprises her role from the radio series. ANNIKA made its U.S. debut on Sunday, October 16, 2022 at 10pm on PBS (check local listings).

The sophomore season of ANNIKA made its U.S. debut on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 10pm on PBS (check local listings). Annika and the team return to solve more murders that wash up from Scotland's waters. Annika shares her wry insights on the crimes while raising her teen daughter, Morgan. In the season opener, when a phone with a recording of a brutal drowning is handed to police headquarters, the pressure is on for Annika and the team to track down the murderer.
