Plot Synopsis

Two hosts, Curt Doussett and Kinga Philipps, travel across America, seeking the help of museum curators, independent experts and respected appraisers to reveal the stories behind artifacts presented by local residents. Each 60-minute episode features a different city, with Curt and Kinga searching for objects with historical importance and unexpected value. From the many collectors who found interesting objects in their basements, barns and attics, only five to six objects per city are featured in the program. The two hosts then consult experts to reveal the history of each object, while taking viewers behind the scenes at museum research facilities. At the end of each episode, owners and their families will gather back at the museum to learn the true story behind their treasured objects. Plus, National Geographic offers $10,000 in each city as special recognition for the historical importance of one artifact in exchange for displaying the selected pieces in a year-long exhibit of America's National Treasures. Curt and Kinga visited Los Angeles, CA; Santa Ana, CA; New Orleans, LA; Savannah, GA; Austin, TX; Kansas City, MO; Philadelphia, PA; Winterthur, DE; and Detroit, MI.
