Plot Synopsis

Based on the novel by Kim Edwards. In 1964, Dr. David Henry is forced to delivers his own twins during a snowstorm only to discover his daughter has Down syndrome. Instantly he makes the fateful decision to have the nurse send the baby to an institution and tell his wife the baby died during childbirth. The nurse disappears to another city, marries and raises the baby as her own. As the years pass, David's overwhelming guilt over his deception shatters his marriage while the nurse finds love and joy in her special needs child. While one family is haunted and torn apart by the loss of a child, another is created and is full of happiness and contentment.
