Plot Synopsis

Stephen Cline, 9, becomes the center of attention when he refuses to speak. His self-imposed mutism continues for 3 years, nearly destroying his family. A traumatic secret and a desire to protect his older brother propels him into an emotional abyss. His parents reluctantly institutionalize him under the care of noted child psychologist Harvey Rosenstock who eventually helps heal the boy and his broken family.
